i have a "spare" 15-91 that i would love to strip and paint. the varnish is coming off in many places and there are also some chips. i would like to paint it pink for my sister for xmas. my bil works for his father in the automotive business. they restore antique cars for people all around the world. i am sure they would strip and paint it.

but...can i strip it enough to give to them to spray, or does it require more...endless amounts of tape, etc.

also, do they sell the decals, just like for the fw? tia.

they sell waterslide decal paper, so you can make your own decal sets using your inkjet printer!

Not a 15, but exactly the same on a smaller scale

This one, that one, and a bunch of other ones!
(though the herd is getting more streamlined)

Versus staying dressed and repainting a Singer -91?

I'd think stripping first would make clean-up easier.

I think it would be great. You can find machines that have been professionally done on Ebay. Also, lots of people have had their Kitchenaid mixers painted in custom motifs. The sky is the limit.

Hey, that's really cool!

I am slowly overcoming my knee jerk resistance to re-painted vintage Singers. From a collectible POV, then no, I don't like them. But if you have a good machine with a beat up finish, a fresh pretty color can really brighten up your sewing room.

(Not that I'd ever do this myself, because painting and refinishing is NOT my thing!)

GothDom... that is FABULOUS. Did you do it yourself? And did you make the decals yourself?
I have learned that the old Singer decals had real gold foil in them.

As for stripping & painting your machine, just Google "painting your featherweght." Lots of stuff will come up. One is by Dave McCallum

I absolutely love this lady's bright pink Featherweight. So, yes, I can imagine a beautifully pink 15-91, too. It would look wonderful!
