Date: 8/22/10 5:43 PM Hi - I am going to be managing this PR Challenge Contest and it looks like it will be fun. Here are the official rules:
****
This Pattern Review challenge is to sew something for your beloved pet (or some other pet).
Any sewn item for a pet qualifies. Beds, toys, clothing: all can be submitted. This can be for your own pet, as a gift, or for charity.
All items that you sew will be one entry. You can make many simpler items, fewer fancy items, or something in between. Voters should view the items made as a collection and vote that way. Even one item, done well, is worth while entering. (Even one item, done not so well, will still be appreciated by your pet so don't let that stop you! )
Prizes:
Sponsored by
First Prize: An online class and a pattern of the winner's choice
Second Prize: A pattern of the winner's choice
*Rules that apply to all contests:
1. All reviews must be entered for submission by 11:59 PM Eastern Time on the last day of the contest. Contest dates will be listed for each contest.
2. Unless otherwise stated in the rules, patterns may be drafted, tweaked, and muslined before the contest date, but fabric for the pieces entered may not be laid out or cut till the start date of the contest. Fabric may be pretreated before the contest date.
3. Items intended for sale, or for which you were or will be paid to make, do not qualify for any contest, but items made for charity are welcome!
4. Unless otherwise stated in the rules, all reviews written for a contest entry must include a picture of the entry.
Contest Eligibility
1. Any member of Pattern Review, either paying (FoPR) or non-paying, who's been a registered member on the site for 90 days prior to the start of a contest is eligible to enter.
2. Any member of Pattern Review, either paying (FoPR) or non-paying, who's been a registered member on the site for 90 days prior to the end of a contest is eligible to vote in a contest.
3. Any member who's won 1st place in a contest on Pattern Review ended in the previous 4 months is ineligible to win another contest (for that 4 month period). -- Edited on 9/7/10 2:33 PM -- ------ Sue (Toowoomba Qld)

Date: 8/22/10 11:14 PM I might as well get started on my Christmas sewing....no time like the present. Friends of ours have two toy poodles that got very cold last winter, the coldest in years. I picked up a couple patterns for them during that time. Now I need to sew them up before the cold weather sets in this year. Sounds like just the contest for me. ------ Judy Next page>> |

Date: 8/22/10 11:54 PM I just can't think of anything my cat needs right now. But I will really enjoy seeing what others come up with for their pets! What a fun and creative contest.
Good luck to all of you, and happy sewing! -- Edited on 8/23/10 0:29 AM -- ------ Sewing is more than my hobby, it is my art.

Date: 8/23/10 4:46 AM Great to see such interest!
I think I will sew along and make a coat for my puppy (read 'old dog'). We need to get his hair cut and it is still cold here and doesn't look like improving, so I think he will appreciate a new coat, and maybe I won't feel so guilty to have his hair cut...
Now do I need a pattern or can I cut one off a coat I bought previously?...
I can only check in, in the evenings this week, so please know I will respond to any enquiries, but it may not be straight away - horror week at work this week, on top of everything else (huge demanding project, one day of training and end of month to be attended to) we are moving office this week-end
And because I love my dog and love to show photos as often as I can, here is a photo of my dog (after his last haircut).. Cosmo...

Date: 8/23/10 5:52 AM OMG...my friend & I were almost rolling on the floor the other day at the fabric store while looking at the pet clothes patterns. Some of those poor doggies didn't look happy!
Such a pity I only have cats. There were no clothes for pussies. ------ Alison in suburbia - Sydney Australia

Oh Alison - you have let the door open for so many possibilities but in the interest of good taste I will put a clamp on my mouth!
You can make a bed or toys if you want to join in....
