Date: 10/5/10 1:36 PM Please read this first post to get an idea of this sticky thread's purpose.
First of all, please abide by PatternReview's policy on advertising below.
Quote: Advertising on Boards without permission from PatternReview.com is strictly prohibited. Violators may be banned without notice.
That means do NOT post any ebay or craigslist posting of your own for the purpose of promoting your own sale.
This is the place to share ALL machine finds using the above mentioned mediums. We welcome postings about ALL machines, vintage, modern, used and new.
Here are some helpful guidelines:
1. Already purchased a machine and want to share your find with others.
2. Considering purchasing a machine from one of the above mediums and want advice, have questions, etc.
3. Want to share finds not in your area, or finds you are not interested in personally, but think someone else may benefit from your alert.
4. As with the other boards, it's better to link to an ad than post images on the thread, as it takes up more space, and takes longer to download for some folks.
This also is not a thread that is for posting funny or ridiculous ads you want to share. Currently we have a thread for that, but it may or may not be active by the time you see this. If not, you can search for it: Contest: Most delusional listing for vintage machine!
Now, go have fun shopping and telling us all about your finds! ------ Bernina 730E, 530, and 350PE

She said someone else came to look at it but he really needed an industrial. He brought layers and layers for purses and this machine couldn't handle it. He told her she should ask more because the condition of both cabinet and machine are impeccable, but she's not asking more. She is just firm with $200. Trust me, I'd pay that much with shipping getting one off ebay. Yaaay me.

Subject: Machine Finds - Craigslist, Auctions, Thrift Date: 10/5/10 2:11 PM I just got a 301 in that same cabinet, a School #90, but mine needs major refinishing.
I'm also going to look at another 411g tomorrow which will likely come home with me but I'm seriously running out of room for cabinets. |

Subject: Machine Finds - Craigslist, Auctions, Thrift Date: 10/5/10 2:15 PM Yum Mary that looks like a winner! I love that cabinet - if/when I get my treadle, it will be in the old style version of that cabinet - cleaner lines, 2 drawers on each side.
& speaking of treadles, I'm considering taking a look at this machine:
1914 Singer 66
There's no belt on it & no hand crank either, and it's clearly in a cabinet that's flat out wrong, so it obviously hasn't been functioning for some time. However, it looks like it's in very nice shape for a 100 yrs old grande dame; & he will come down in price.
I don't think I'll have time to look at it until this weekend; if it's still available, it might be a bit easier to negotiate, since I would still need to get a different cab & get rid of the one it's in.
And thanks Mary, for getting this thread going ------ http://jillybejoyful.blogspot.com/

Subject: Machine Finds - Craigslist, Auctions, Thrift Date: 10/5/10 2:25 PM Oh Jilly, SUPER YUM!!! Now that I'll get the 201, a really decked out decalled to death old Singer is about the only other one on my list right now. And, this 66 is one beautiful redhead. Yes the cab is all wrong, but yes she's gorgeous!! ------ Bernina 730E, 530, and 350PE

Subject: Machine Finds - Craigslist, Auctions, Thrift Date: 10/5/10 3:13 PM Jilly, I didn't see a motor on that 66. If you want to power it electrically, make sure it has the cast-in boss under the hand wheel. The conversion will take only minutes. Or, you could always drop it into a treadle base...

Subject: Machine Finds - Craigslist, Auctions, Thrift Date: 10/5/10 3:42 PM Don't worry Muffet, we'll make sure that advertising stays out of this thread. It will be easier to do that with one thread than with a multitude. ------ Carolyn

Subject: Machine Finds - Craigslist, Auctions, Thrift Date: 10/5/10 3:46 PM Thats why I asked Carolyn first before even starting the thread, because of your concern. Sounds like this will actually help the mods, which is always a good thing. ------ Bernina 730E, 530, and 350PE
