Date: 10/20/10 1:27 PM They have excellent introductory prices, makes you want to buy everything new that comes out! I bought the Singer L-500 when it came out and as much as I wanted to like it, I returned it. I didn't think the stitch quality was the greatest and it made a weird sound(to me).
However, this new machine looks like it has a bit of the Pfaff/Viking influence with the buttons above the needle area. And it does have a nice large sewing area. And it does embroidery. And I have a perfectly fine Brother QC-1000 and PE-750D... |

Date: 10/20/10 2:40 PM It appears to not have an auto presser foot lifter option nor a knee lift lever. Not seeing anything about a thread trimmer, either -- Edited on 10/20/10 2:41 PM -- |

Date: 10/20/10 5:03 PM I looked at the Singer website to get more info on this machine, and I didn't see anything. HSN says it does embroidery designs--what size?? 4x4? 5x7? Does it run on a USB cable, or does it use a stick? I love the independent bobbin winder. That's such a time saver! But the picture doesn't show enough to make me happy and I feel there isn't enough info about it. But I like the idea you can send it back... ------ "We don't impose our rhythm on Nature. Date: 10/20/10 6:32 PM I had the Futura 100 and was so unhappy with the machine. I never used the embroider features. Actually I really tried to like it, I had gotten a great deal and wanted a "new" machine. But the stitches were awful really really awful
If you are interested in the futura line join the futura yahoo group they are really wonderful |

Date: 10/20/10 8:39 PM As for it's serging ability, I see that this machine comes with a serging foot. Maybe it is the same as what is known as a side cutter that can be purchased for some machines on line which is a different type of serging ability that the Janome Jem Gold Plus has with a cutting mechanism on the machine that swings down. -- Edited on 10/20/10 8:44 PM -- |

Date: 10/20/10 9:24 PM I agree it looks like it does a lot. However, is it just me, or does anyone else think the machine just looks cheap? For a sub-$200 machine, a bit of that is expected. For $800, it'd be nice if it looked rather more substantial. |
