Date: 11/13/10 7:15 PM No, but I intend to after your post. Thanks for the link. I didn't know anyone in Australia was designing and selling sewing patterns. I definitely want to try these and I see a pant pattern I'd like.
As for postage, A$12 to the USA sounds about right to me. Postage between our countries is high given the distance. When I purchase the other way (from the US) this is approx. what I pay. The more you buy the more economical it becomes. Having said this I do think A$10 within Australia is steep. I can understand the price for the card stock patterns but not the paper ones. ------ Belinda. Melbourne, Australia

Date: 11/13/10 8:16 PM Belinda, I just bought 2 patterns and paid $5.80 postage - much more reasonable. Actual postage is probably $3.80, so $2 p&h is acceptable.
Thanks RocknRoll!! ------ chris

Thanks Chris for letting me know. Yes $5.80 sounds spot on. Glad to know it isn't $10. I'm sitting here making my ever growing list.
So what did you get? ------ Belinda. Melbourne, Australia

Date: 11/13/10 8:43 PM The Floating Fran cardi and the Carla blouse. I thought I'd try both a knit and a woven pattern to test the fit, something needing limited alterations and quick to sew as my sewing time is very limited at the moment. ------ chris

Date: 11/13/10 9:01 PM Did you buy your RTW size? I'm looking at the m'ments and the size 10 seems closest to my m'ments, plus size 10 is my RTW size. I wish they were multi-size.
ETA: I forgot to say I like the two patterns you got. Then again I like all their patterns. It's hard to narrow down my choice.

Yes, this is what appeals to me. This plus it sounds like the patterns may be drafted by people in the industry. Hopefully the same people who are drafting our RTW.
I actually really like Australian RTW clothes. With a few tweaks I find the fit really good. While I can find similar styles from the Big4 pattern companies, the fit is different from our RTW. I've had a long held dream of trying on RTW clothing, then being able to walk to the counter and ask to buy the pattern. I'm hoping this is a step in that direction.------ Belinda. Date: 11/13/10 9:22 PM I couldn't believe it when I read the patterns are not multi sized - but they are not! This will make it difficult for many sewers who need multi sizing and are used to just switching between the lines.
Nevertheless, the styles are really nice. |
