Date: 11/26/10 1:01 PM Hancock's sells this machine. It looks like a slimmed down version of the current two machines, the 2160 and the 3160. It has what looks in the pictures to be a different way of attaching the presser feet. It looks like they attach by sliding on rather than snapping on, much as my Viking feet do. Is this correct or is that just what it looks like in the pictures. I can't go see this machine because there are no Hancock's between my location and Harrisburg PA, which Google mapping tells me is a 7 hour and 44 min drive!
So - since no one has reviewed this machine, and I know some of you have it and like it - let's hear some more! One feature it has is the ability to skip up the stitches in tens instead of one by one? Is this also true?
Thanks! ------ "Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible."

Date: 11/26/10 2:04 PM When this machine came out a few monts ago, it was in a Hancock sales flyer for $249. I thought for the features it was an excellent deal. I've always admired the 8077. I've heard nothing but good things about it. When I got to the store, I was short on time and the sales clerk could not find the power cord of the floor model. I left very dissappointed and truthfully never thought about going back to try it out when I had more time. But it is pretty. I like the numbers are blue instead of the usual green. It has a very nice stitch selection comparible to the 19110. I do not know about the feet. But it is a nice alternative to the 2160 and 3160. It might even be better. It is not quite as slim, so cannot tumble over. Also, the price is right! |

It is a good bit heavier, which to me is a real advantage! I don't carry them around much, and I think this one weighs in the realm of 18 pounds, which is still less than my other machines. Can't fault the lighter weight Janomes though, come to think of it because the Jems were good and stable, although only 12 pounds.------ "Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible."

Date: 11/26/10 2:17 PM Oh I know. I had a Janome Platinum 760 that I LOVED. I do regret selling that machine. Those were the days where I would not consider keeping more than two sewing machines. |

Date: 11/26/10 7:00 PM It looks like a nice machine. I would want to see it in person first. I like to touch machines and pick them up, and get a good look at them before buying. I like the amount of stitches it has. I wonder how much power it has. I did not find much info on it so far. If I get over to Hancocks tomorow, I'll see if they have any left and look at it, pick it up and generally check it out. No guarantee I will get over that far, but I do want to buy some fabric, so it is the best excuse I can think of to go shopping this weekend!

How nice that sounds. And of I ever go that way I sure will take you up on that offer. I don't expect I will be going down any time soon. The next Hancock Fabrics I see will most likely be in Kirkland WA next Spring. It's the last one I was in as well. And no, that's not what sent me to Kirkland! But thanks again, and you never know when I might drive down past you and just pop on in!

Date: 11/26/10 11:54 PM i DID NOT see this thread.. and will not be buying another machine today.. no matter how many people post on this thread..
However I will say that a 7 hour drive is less time than I spent at Sears getting my last machine.. |
