Hello all! I am 5'5", or used to be, when I was young and pattern fit fine...to the lady who asked about PPP and being 5'6"..I may have to add an inch to the length of certain tops, but did not do so with my yoked blouse pattern.
Thanks for your encouragement--took me all this time to find matching thread for blouses. All my first one needs is machine stitching the hand basted sleeves in, and perhaps edge/topstitching. I wore it the other day(after unearthing it from "one of many" cluttered rooms. Now I just need to move jewelry making and beading supplies so I have a place to sew. I moved my painting and drawing to old sewing area--am relocating and trying it out. Must dejunk every room. Will write as soon as sleeves are officially in and I declare first blouse "finished".

Does anyone want to join with me doing Perfect Plus Patterns book or Petite Plus patterns by Kathleen Cheetham and record our progress and journeys? I have been urged to try these patterns and already have her book, so I thought I would JUST DO IT bit by bit---in as Nancy Zieman aptly puts it, "10-20-30 minutes to sew" segments during a given week(as life permits us). Great idea!! And I should join you!! I have almost all her patterns and the book. I've even made things from the patterns.

What I lack is picture posting skills. It seems every time I get the process of uploading/cropping/color adjusting/resizing/etc figured out, something changes. Either the computer (and softwear), the camera (and softwear), or I don't know what. I keep telling DH I want ONE program to do it - always and forever. Then, No. Changes. I'm not tech savy and really have no desire to be that way....evidenced by years of claiming I don't know how to do computer things.

Dear o3b---what idea(s) do you have for your first project? I would like to do eiher the shirt that comes in the book or the gathered yoke shirt--which is already traced on sewable paper(altho I have misplaced one of pattern pieces). I have a whiz bang laptop and camera, but need to spend some diligent time to ever consider posting anything. So far I am still figuring out what to do with the thumb drive for my camera(darling daughters politely told me to take a class) for pc, camera, etc. Darling son in law laughed and thought a class was a great idea(ie. my hint to have him clean up my laptop messes and speed the thing up fell on deaf ears==can you believe it??!! I'am in. I have a lot of Kathleen's patterns. I have made a few and they fit well. I love her jacket, the one she did the DVD on. OK now to figure out what to sew first....

I know what you mean about figuring out how to use all the gadets. I was getting good at uploading pictures, now I have a new laptop and have to start all over, anyway it feels like starting all over.

I'm in indecision-land at the moment.

I need pants. I realized the other day that when I finally pull out the summer-capri pants, besides jeans, I only have four pair of pants left hanging there. Three of them are made from the Flat Front pants pattern and the other is Lane Bryant. I need to see what fabric I have and what goes with my existing tops. But I may end up trying a Khaliah Ali pattern for something different in pants. (Oh, my favorite PJs are also from the Flat Front pants pattern, and I have a couple from her PJ pattern as well.)

I do have fabric for, and would like to make, the swing coat. I bought a nice navy rainwear fabric from the flatfolds mnfr discards pile at Hancocks. I'd love to add details to it, though, like the piping she added to her sample she posted back when the pattern first came out. I'm not sure how I'm going to do that with this fabric, though, b/c I want it to be rain resistant.

I need to finally make a Shapely Shirt. I made a couple trials a year or two ago, but never got to the finished garment.

I really like the gathered yoke shirt you are talking about. She had it hanging in her booth at Expo and it stood out to me. It's one of the patterns I didn't end up buying, though, b/c I had already altered the basic shirt pattern (AKA Button Front Blouse) and made my own gathered yoke shirt out of that one.

Just yesterday I picked up a soft, drapey poly sweaterknit that I'd like to use to make either the knit cardigan or something from a KA pattern. I haven't decided yet.

I'm on my way to my room soon. I'll look through my patterns as I put the piles all back together. But I've got a charity sewing project to work on sewing tonight.

I'm sorry your son didn't pick up on your not-so-subtle hint.

Sounds like a fun sew along. I do need clothes and I do have the book and several of her patterns.

Do the patterns in the book start at size 12 or 14? Some of her envelope patterns start at 12, but some start at 14.
