Hi,
I am looking at getting a new sewing machine with more bells and whistles than the one I have now.

I have not been to the store to see them yet, but am thinking between the Grace(BL40A) and Elizabeth(BL200A)

I love my babylock serger and thought maybe a sewing machine by that company will be good as well.

Any thoughts?

Thank you
Jan

I think the Elizabeth was called the Decorator's Choice until quite recently; maybe check to see if there are some reviews here? I'm pretty sure a few people around here have that one.

I'd love to have Elizabeth. I will be looking at it this week, but buying feet for my BL Molly instead. That is my dream machine.

I wish we had an icon for the "I'm just dreaming" look.

I really enjoy quilting. I love to play with fabrics, colors and pictures. I recently discovered how much fun applique can be. As I love making pictures, landscape quilting can be challenging, but seeing the picture come to life is so rewarding.

I'm interested in BL Elizabeth as well (or a BL Audrey)...unfortunately, I'm having trouble finding a dealer and a good price on it.

( Please keep me posted...I'd love to know what you end up getting!! )

Well I went with the Babylock Designer's Choice, which is the Elizabeth and so far I really like it. I like the backstitch/thread cutter feature!

How much did she cost? I still have not checked into it, because I really want one and I know I can't have one right now. Maybe next summer...

(( Congrats! I hope you don't mind us asking how much you paid for it...? ))

I went to a dealer selling the Elizabeth for $599 ( It seems too pricey for me and I'm still looking )...I'm going to another dealer this weekend to compare prices

Wanted to quickly share my experience... (after a bit using the machine, I'll try and write up and post a full review). Just got the BL200A Babylock Elizabeth after researching all I could online and then going into the store to compare Babylock models (sewing only since I already have the Babylock Emore). I didn't find many postings/reviews on the Elizabeth, so I checked out the ones on the Decorator Choice (which is supposedly the predecessor of the Elizabeth) and found a few on the Grace - many of them pretty good. After comparing online, I went into the store thinking I'd get the Grace. I discovered that no matter what I read about the models, nothing can replace the look and feel of a true test drive. (Comparing to my old 20+ year old Singer, I knew any new model would be impressive.) I brought my own fabric (current projects) so I could really try different stitches on variety of fabrics. I tried out the Molly, Audrey, Grace and Elizabeth. The store was having year-end specials, and got the Elizabeth for $599. Although the Grace was $349, I made the jump up to the Elizabeth because it just feels like a stronger machine (retailer mentioned it has a stronger motor) and these extras (which among others do not come with the Grace): Hard case cover, extra feet (especially the walking foot and quilting foot - these alone are over $100 worth), knee lifter, thread cutter, many more stitches included (178 vs 40 for the Grace) including alphabets and w/ design memory too), and organized storage for feet/bobbins. These things added up made up the $ difference for me, knowing I'd enjoy them for many years to come. The clincher was in the store, after playing around with the Elizabeth for awhile, I went back to the Grace to do another test drive, and really just felt the step down. So, for others out there considering it, do the test drive to really help you decide. For me, if you can make the leap from a cost perspective, I'd wholeheartedly recommend the Elizabeth! Best wishes to all...

Thank you for your review of the Elizabeth. They are hard to find. I am going in tomorrow for a test run on the Babylock Elizabeth, Grace, and Bernina 215. I'm most drawn to Elizabeth. I was wondering if you had made any quilts on your machine? I sew with mainly decorator fabrics, or cottons with heavy interfacing. What is your opinion on how she rolls with those kinds of fabrics? Can you, by any chance give an update to your review? I'd be interested in knowing also how the monogramming capabilities were working for you, and if the machine has needed any servicing, and any problems you may have had. Thank you so very much!!
