Date: 12/21/10 7:30 PM Hi everyone,
Welcome to the Active Wear Contest! To pump you up, here are the rules:
Active Wear Contest
January 1 through 31, 2011
Sponsored by
First Prize: $100 Gift Certificate
Create some activewear for yourself or others! Activewear must be intended for an active situation.
Random Entry Prize: Three patterns of the winner's choice from Studio Cherie.
Requirements:
All work on the garment(s) must be done in January 2011. (Pattern can be one previously used.) The review must include the following:
- Description of the garment
- The intended use of the garment
- Why the garment qualifies as active wear
- The fabric choice and why it is appropriate for the intended use
- What features (fabric, cut, design, features) differentiate this from garments for other functions
There must be something about the garment that differentiates it from everyday clothing or casual lounge wear. The contest manager will be asked to remove entries that do not seem to meet the contest criteria, so make certain you explain why your item does meet the requirements.
There is no limit on the number of entries. More entries means more active wear and more opportunities for you to get active! Each entry can be a single item or a set, at your choice.
There will be one 1st place winner to this contest, determined by popular vote. There will also be one random drawing winner, from all finished qualified entries.
*Rules that apply to all contests:
1. All reviews must be entered for submission by 11:59 PM Eastern Time on the last day of the contest. Contest dates will be listed for each contest.
2. Unless otherwise stated in the rules, patterns may be drafted, tweaked, and muslined before the contest date, but fabric for the pieces entered may not be laid out or cut till the start date of the contest. Fabric may be pretreated before the contest date.
3. Items intended for sale, or for which you were or will be paid to make, do not qualify for any contest, but items made for charity are welcome!
4. Unless otherwise stated in the rules, all reviews written for a contest entry must include a picture of the entry.
Contest Eligibility
1. Any member of Pattern Review, either paying (FoPR) or non-paying, who's been a registered member on the site for 90 days prior to the start of a contest is eligible to enter.
2. Any member of Pattern Review, either paying (FoPR) or non-paying, who's been a registered member on the site for 90 days prior to the end of a contest is eligible to vote in a contest.
3. Any member who's won 1st place in a contest on Pattern Review ended in the previous 4 months is ineligible to win another contest (for that 4 month period).
------
Good luck, everyone.

Date: 12/22/10 3:25 AM Great timing! I have just got a nice piece of technical fabric I was planning to use for a top for gym! This will keep me motivated and stop it becoming eligible for future stash contests! ------ Sue (Toowoomba Qld)

Date: 12/22/10 3:47 AM I agree - perfect timing! I picked up some Underarmor fabric last month and hadn't started working on it for training wear for my husband. I can certainly wait another week+ to get started! ------ Debora, of Chicago and Frankfurt

Date: 12/22/10 5:56 AM Count me in. I've got some black supplex waiting to be made into active wear. I'll combine it with other colors that I've yet to order. Will be a good start for January. ------ http://sigridsewingprojects.blogspot.com/ |

Date: 12/22/10 3:33 PM I can't resist. Even though I vowed not to enter any contests this year, I can't let activewear go by. Mmm, hiking shirt for DH or swimwear for myself? ------ It's the journey, not the destination that counts |

Date: 12/22/10 4:16 PM I'm so glad to hear the enthusiasm already! And looking forward to hearing about your progress.
It struck me, too, that January is great timing for an activewear contest. But maybe that's because I am such a sloth that I need all the resolutions in the world to get myself to exercise... and as for sports, um, does walking on crowded city sidewalks count? In any event, you might just have inspired me to sew along with you and make up a pair of yoga pants. I have that new Jalie pattern, 3022, and what better occasion to try it? |

Date: 12/23/10 7:12 AM Shame, I've got a bunch of patterns and fabric suitable for running, but my box of exercise clothes is OVERFLOWING! The stuff I make just lasts too long... I need it to wear out so I can sew some more! ------ www.fehrtrade.com |
