Now, I am not saying I am ready to anything like that YET (really, I still think I cannot sew)...I will think I can sew when I can actually make myself three items of clothing that actually fit (not just my kids). But I just LOVE reading sBev blog, and Debbie Cooks blog, and Peter's of course.... my morning would just not be complete without a coffee and the blogs....and it got me thinking, how are you all doing it? How do you even start? Thank you!

Go to wordpress.com, blogger.com or blogspot.com. These are just a few of the blog websites that are out there. The basic service is free (which is enough to get started.) Most of these sites are easy to set up, or you can start with their standard template, then customize as you go along. All these sites have easy-to-use tools for you to publish; it doesn't require special tools. They all have online help.

Don't be afraid. Have fun!

I am teaching my 73 year old friend how to blog and we are using Wordpress. It's easy!

Feel free to ask me questions.

Consider going to Wordpress and start a blog making up a silly name (you can delete it later.) Write a few posts and upload a picture. That way you can learn the features without worrying about what you are writing . You can put Testing plus numbers for your blog post titles so that if anyone does stumble on it, they can just move on.

Have fun! I'm having a blast with it and my friend is just coming to life as she learns. Her decorating is gorgeous but she didn't have a way to share everything that was inside her!

I use gmail, picasa (for my pictures), and blogger for my blog. These are all powered by google. I think it's easy, and there are plenty of people using blogger.

I also use blogspot.com. Believe me, if I can do it, so can you. Of course, through time, I've changed things a bit but for the first year, I think I used their basic templates. I'm techno challenged and never have confidence in myself but I was able to manage this. My blog is the only thing I've done that my kids haven't done first! I know there are things I need to improve upon but I'm slowly working on making my blog the way I want it to look.

Go for it!

I agree blogger is a good platform. It has a gadget that will let you grab things from the web to include in your blog.

It looks like blogger.com and blogspot.com are one & the same?

I just started a blog, & I'm jumping through hoops & back again trying to figure out how to edit some basic info on the template! Some of the help files simply take me places that don't work, & I don't know if it's just me, or because I'm on a Mac. I've tried using both Firefox & Safari....maybe I'll try googlechrome as well....

Does anyone else have a blogspot blog using Mac & Firefox?

Technically, blogger is the platform/software, while blogspot is the freehost. That technicality is blurred now that Google owns both and has woven it into the total Google account idea.

Can't help on the Mac/FF issue, but I can say the template editor was slow last night using PC/IE.

I don't really make mistakes ... I create "learning opportunities"! Murphy says: The better you match the thread to the fabric, the more likely you will need to rip some stitches out! I spend more quality time with my seamripper than I like ...
Yes, I DO love fabric!!

The template designer gives me nothing at all - I was playing with it all day yesterday. It will open for me, but zippo happens after that, no matter what I click on. Oh, except there is the "blog" logo in the lower area, & that just keeps on giving the little moving dots; as if it's loading....and loading....and loading...... but that's beyond slow. That's something that's never ever going to open.

I've sort of given up, at least for now, & I'll just work within the confines of the sample template I'm using.

This blogging thing could be fun....friends have been telling me for years that I should be doing it; maybe they were right!
