Coincidently, I came across 'The magic wrap skirt' and was instantly attracted to the idea (the fact that it fuels dreams of summer temperature in the middle of European winter may have contributed to that ).

I've even found a pattern for download but am super-cautious when it comes to sources I don't know. Does anyone here have experience with downloading this particular pattern? Here's the link (no worries, it only directs to a page where you'd find the link for the download).

I have tried to down load the pattern but it isn't working for me. I would love to make this skirt!

Hello Nora,

I posted the same question in a German sewing blog and imagine: somebody did have a magic wrap skirt at home!

She was kind enough to post the following measures:
- waistband: 111 cm (a little more than 44 inches)
- bands 'extending' the waistband: 21 inches on one side, 25 inches on the other (the sewist indicated that the bands would be too short for most of the variations shown but this should be an easy fix). In the middle of the waistband, there's a vertical buttonwhole, and two other buttonwholes, each 3 inches away from the one in the middle. I realize only now while translating that there's no description where the corresponding buttons are located ... Or are they 'leftovers' from the recycled saris these skirts are made out of? (BTW: Nice refashioning project, I have to say, great idea). Need to check back with the sewist.

The skirt length is 80 cm (32 inches; seems to be the medium or maxi version), and the widths at the hem is 390 cm (96 inches --> that's quite wide!)

Would you have fabric in your stash for such a skirt? I have a huge stash but nothing really suitable for this type of skirt ... nice excuse to potentially buy new fabric ... ;)
