Good summary!  I often have trouble finding particular threads.  I finally signed up for update notification on a couple.

The gift thread is here.  And the rice bag filler thread .is here.

I was also thinking of using the Green Pepper fleece socks pattern, and getting the gripper stuff for the bottoms of them.  I will probably run out of time between now & Christmas, though.  Most of the gifts are going to be "traditional" store-bought ones.

I'm happy to report that I just drafted an article for the newsletter last night on holiday gift ideas.  It will be in the next newsletter.

I'll try to squeeze in some more of the suggestions, such as the pincushions.  Since not everyone reads the BB, a newsletter article summarizing some of the ideas should reach more people.

Sometimes I give gift certificates for a knitted or sewn item that I will make at a later time. I hand paint and letter the certificate which says that the recipient is entitled to a hand knitted or sewn item of his/her choice during the coming year.

I do this if I am not sure what the person really wants, or don't know their size, favorite colors, etc. Also, it means I don't have to hurry to get several things done before a holiday.   I don't do too many of these-just for close friends and family when I want to give them something really special.

It's interesting that what people ask for is never what I would have predicted.

Some great ideas so far.

I've started working on one seam :D  PJ bottoms/loungewear for everyone on my list.  I'm using silky fabric for the girls and mostly flannels & knits for the guys.

A couple of years ago, I made the velvet bags & gave them with a bottle of wine.  They were a hit with all my friends.

Claudine, those are wonderful ideas. Maybe I will try those this year. I think if I do, I will use drawstrings or drawcord elastic for the pants, so I don't have to ask about people's waist sizes. :)   I think Stretch and Sew has a unisex one-seam pattern for fleece pants, but it would work for flannel too.

sorry deepika, i didnt realize i had the thread in the wrong catagory. now i cant even remember which one i used. but thanks for putting it where its suppose to be.  :)
eewwww, rhonda, i cant wait to get the next newsletter. i really like getting the newsletters. and i've also been going back and reading the previous chats too. they all come in handy. every year i say im going to be ready for christmas, but every year im not. and all these little gifts help out so much. i started working on some mocassin pin cushions last night. i havent even had too many chances to work on my contest wardrobe. but if it happens it happens. im not going to rush it. i only want to enjoy it.  :D
