My son told me he wants one of these tops. It looks very easy to make. I was wondering about the fabric-- it seems to be some kind of blanket material. What is the usual fiber content and where would I find the fabric or something similar?
Any pattern hints would be greatly appreciated as well.

Islander Pattern

Islander has just the pattern you need....the fabric is a losely woven heavy weight cotton. I don't have any idea where you would find it - but you are right it something like a tablecloth or light weight blanket. How about a thrift store?

There is a great blogpost at briansews.com about this pattern. Brian ended up on the pattern envelope as a model.

How about buying a Mexican cotton blanket and using that. I've seen them for sale online, and it looks like the same fabric as a baja.
