I have been on this exhaustive search for Kona Muslin by the Bolt. I want to get a 15 or 25 yd bolt but seem to come up empty. I tried Joanns and the other usual places and many others. Most stores don't list the brand as they think muslin is muslin right? NO! The hand of this muslin is superlative. I used some yardage in another project, needless to say I want more.

I saw Kona muslin at Hancock's in Birmingham, Alabama. Did you check them online??

Check out www.hancocks-paducah.com. They carry the Kona line. I buy bolts from them all the time. They offer a discount if you order 10 yds. or more and I find them reasonably priced. I usually buy the colors, but they probably carry the muslin as well.

Fabric.com sells the Kona muslin in white and natural. They are so helpful at fabric.com that it seems they would send you a bolt if you wanted. Maybe you can use one of their frequent coupon codes as well and get extra % off.

Thanks to everyone for all your help... I called all the places everyone recommended which was the way to go... the internet was not producing the information I wanted or needed.

I contacted Hancocks who has a 15yd bolt at 54.15 plus shipping (7.95) = $62.10. This is a very good price.

I called fabric.com who does not sell kona by the bolt, they have Moda which is good but it is out of stock and they can not give me a time frame...

I called fabric depot wholesale... They have a 20yd bolt of kona at a better price by 3 cents/yd but shipping is more making their price higher than Hancocks. 84.88 including shipping. 20 yds is more than I need for my project but then I'll have it as the need arises.

I also called a local store to see if they could get me a good price... they would have to order as they normally do not carry kona muslin...They have Southern Belle, a brand I've never heard of. I think I remember that from my last visit so I did't ask if they could order kona. I suspect their prices will be higher... they'll call me next week.

I haven't decided which vendor I'll use... If the local store can offer a good price I might go with them just to support my local fabric shop...

Does anyone know about Southern Belle muslin?

Southern Belle muslins are wonderful.

But they are finer/smoother than most of the Kauffman Konas, so they might not work for you.

Thanks for the endorsement. You are right about thet kona being heavy... My LQS has southern belle too and can order it easily. I will have to go buy a yard just to check it out. I am pulling materials together to start a Dear Jane quilt... it was estimated I would need roughly 15 yards of muslin. I thought that since so much muslin was going into this quilt I wanted a good quality. I want something with a good hand and easy to work with.

I'm glad I didn't jump right on the Kona.

Is Dear Jane quilt for our troops? I just wondered. I know VA looks for quilts for our veterans.

Is Kona muslin the same as they refer to Tea grade muslin?
Thank you!

Tgm, In a way it is war related... the American Civil War that is. Dear Jane is reference to a quilt made in the 19th Century. The maker, Jane Stickle inscribed her name, the number of pieces to make the quilt and made it during war time of 1863. Jane Stickle symbolizes what many wives, mothers and sisters experience when their loved ones go off to war. The quilt itself is a work of art even if we knew nothing about Jane Stickle the quilter. It becomes a journey for many who endeavor to make this most complicated quilt design. The challenge to make it is simply that too just to see how far one can go. It has inspired many, including woman of recent war times too.

Tea grade muslin? I'm not sure myself... a rustic muslin is called osnaburg, if that is the same? I don't done know... anyone else know about tea grade muslin?
