My Pattern Designer software Anyone else have it?

For some reason I just have not been able to get all excited about it. Just wondering what others experience have been? I think my problem is with the way the software makes the bust adjustment. ------ Ada

I made a sloper and to my amazment it fit really well. The shoulder slope is off by 1/2" and the side seems still have little wings under my arm but then commercial patterns always have them and the wings are even bigger on those. The problem is you can not go from a 40" upper chest to a 46.5" full bust in 3" and think there is any software that can manage it. That and I have a narrow chest so a lot of the 40" upper chest circumference is coming from my back and not the front. Anybody else still have this software and using it? As someone else said when explaning why they are not using the software "I love buying patterns". I think that is true for me also. However, I am trying to get a McCalls armhole princess blouse to fit and decided to see what the difference was between the two patterns. Found out there isn't a lot of difference. I create a pattern similar to the commercial pattern I have bought, I then use the MPD pattern to adjust the fit. I agree that I just love buying patterns, the examples they show for MPD are never very inspiring. I don't look at the modelled examples and think wow! I must make that. I went to a "group" for measurement and the results were a mess. I tried off and on over the years, continuing to update the program and then switched to My Pattern Designer Pro. Frustrated in 2006 living in another part of the country I tried another group for measurements. I finally decided to measure myself AGAIN, and got something closer but again became frustrated. But the pants pattern fit easily. (Somewhere along the way, before I purchased this program my body morphed, from a reasonable normal 10/12 petite that any pattern could be easily adjust to fit. To a petite size 14 pants and to wearing a size 34F bra. Adjusting patterns was a nightmare that I totally gave up on) I finally got a top to fit but like the blouses I buy there was a huge "dart" of material from the armseye to my breast. I did not find the group emails helpful and felt ignored. FINALLY I email the "Guru" who helps everyone and asked for help off line. I explained my problem. Apparently this was a new problem and there wasn't a good answer - frustrated again. The next time I decided to try again I downloaded an update and low and behold - it had armseye darts!!!!! They apparently do listen to consumers! The point of this is yes the measurements and adjustments can be challenging (i don't have any friends that sew or that I believe could give accurate measurements) but you can do it yourself if you are slow and focus. The scale printouts can help identify how adjustment affect the pattern. Most of all ask for help, and persist. The pants pattern was a cinch and have always fit well. I now have a great fitting top pattern that I would NEVER gotten by slashing up a otc pattern. I do recommend this software, it has gotten better and better over the years. The staff is responsive and they will work to help you. It appears that I have a problem with not being able to figure things out on my own.

There was an update a few days ago. I also watched a class and picked up a few tips. My next venture is a empire maxi dress. So far things are looking good. Oh and the update has a new tool called Outerwear Designer, however you have to pay extra for it. ------ Ada
