Hello this is the first time I've posted and I'm a complete newbie sewer. There is a book called Sewing Clothes Children Love by Nancy Langdon and it has fabulous clothes that I would like to wear myself! Is it possible to alter/adapt children size patterns to adult size? Is it difficult? Thank you.

Possible? Yes. Easy? NO!
Remember children are straight up and down - no curves. Their body proportions are different from an adult's. And design ideas that are nice are children may look completely "wrong" on a more mature person.
As "a complete newbie sewer" I would recommend you find adult patterns with similar details that you like and make those. As you gain experience in technique, construction and preferences you can decide if this is still something you want to pursue.

I have that book too. The author is a designer for Farbenmix patterns. The full pattern line also includes adult patterns.

My grandmother taught me to sew when I was 10, and I've been sewing ever since.
