Does anyone know what the fabric is that they use for RTW jeggings? Where can I get it and what % spandex, etc. If anyone has a good pair of RTW ones, could you check the fiber content on the tag?

The new Ottobre design issue has jegging patterns for kids & I'd love to make some for my tall, lanky kindergartener.

Thx!

Hi, I have a pair on now, it's 97% cotton & 3% spandex, but they are way more stretchy than regular stretch denim. I expected it to be a knit, but it's a lightweight twill woven. I've seen some denim-look knits at Emma One Sock that I think would make nice jeggings, but I've only seen it on-line so I'm not sure of the weight. HTH, Sue

Fabric.com has some lightweight (I think 6 oz) denim with 4% spandex. Maybe that would work, too. I'll look at emma, too!

Just checked.......Emma One Sock has a few they suggest, with 4-way stretch!

Thanks a million!

Jeggings are denim leggings. My daughter loves them. They are similar to those things on Informercials in the US, called Pajama Jeans.

I have some fabric from the local fabric warehouse so no fiber content but it feels like cotton with a WHOLE LOT of lycra. It is As or MORE stretchy than swimwear. It's pink so not what you're looking for. I don't know how you will find this online without a stretch test with your hands.

I did a little Google searching with no luck. The denim I use for regular stretch jeans is about 97/3 and would not work for jeggings.

If you track some down in a nice dark indigo definitely let us know. I would love jeggings to wear under tunics an short dresses but I'm too tall and thick-legged for RTW, they end up stopping a little above my ankle which is, IMO, a hideous look (pasty, stout ankles, how I hate thee)

HERE is a link to some fabric from Gorgeous Things that looks like denim and she says it's super stretchy good for jeggings. There are still 40 yards available, so ask for a swatch. Please report back to us if you get it!

fabric.com jeggings

I found this while looking for material for the Ottobre kids jeggings. It's about 1/2 the price. don't know about the quality.
