Date: 7/20/11 10:49 AM Has hit and hit big! Woke up yesterday normal, and went to bed having ordered myself a Uke. Yes, it's a big move, and one not to be taken lightly....had a noontime program here at the library on the Uke, using the film, The Mighty Uke, and before you knew it, several of us had ordered them online...now all that's left is practice....and fun! Reasons for acquiring Uke? They made me smile, they made me laugh, they made me feel more social!
So, we hope to have a library uke band here soon....it's all because of one of our nicest co-workers who plays with a group up in the Champlain Islands, and it's her soft, easy smile, her enthusiasm in such a quiet way over so much time that finally captured us...and then there are those young guys on YouTube making the uke a cool instrument.
Anyone play? Please give tips! ------ "Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible."

Date: 7/20/11 11:58 AM You are a constant suprise to me, my friend. What will you come up with next? Me too. I want to see the YouTube vid when it comes out. I hope you enjoy the new Uke and make sweet music with it.
What did you hubby have to say about it? You did tell him, didn't you? He will notice the "music" as you learn to play.
As for a solution to SMAD, so far, there is no cure. Buying more machines does not do it. Buying sewing furniture will not help either. I'm drooling over a beautiful number 48 cabinet and a Singer 201. GothDom is now emailing me pictures. She is such an enabler. Good thing she will not read this thread.
I hope you get a great deal of enjoyment from this uke.

Date: 7/20/11 12:07 PM Oh I will not sure DH this thread! He & his cousin are already talking about getting one. Here the mandolin is the rage at the moment too.
You should do a short song for SMAD that may cure it! Or it may encourage us to buy more sm too! ------ I am a gal from Kalamazoo.... oh what a gal... smile.... It is in Michigan... la la la ...love that Glen Miller classic!

I have search seven major cities nearby.. and not even ONE ukelele on CL.. Loads of sewing machines.. which means of course the ukelele is rising in popularity as no one wants to sell their ukeleles it seems.. whereas the sewing machines are not so popular anymore.. |

Date: 7/20/11 1:28 PM HAHAHHAAA....SexiSadi...you ARE kidding....sewing machine acquisition disease is rampant here, and I am a victim too of course, but sometimes something else does come along...
@pigling....well, the video won't be up anytime soon! HAHAHHAA.
@ Learn to Sew....since I have been talking about a Bernina at about 1600 lately, the fam thinks a uke at 70 is a wonderful alternative! HAHAHHHAA....
To be honest - I have two sons with stringed-instrument-acquisition-disease, but neither of them has had the forethought to acquire a uke so that I wouldn't have to buy one. But now of course they probably will. One of them has lots of guitars, a couple acoustics in there, a mandolin and a violin, but no uke.
@tgm and kitties - well, sure - let the guys get the ukes....you will smile a lot. I guarantee it. And mandolins...oh how beautiful...oh yes, get yourself a ukelele too! ------ "Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible."
