Date: 8/7/11 7:49 PM I have read that a few people are having problems with their Babylock Serenade. I've just purchased one, to upgrade from the Quest. There seems to me to be an issue with the bobbins. I can't seem to post a picture, but let me try to describe them.
The bobbins that came with the serenade have small rectangles engraved around the centre hole. The bobbins that my dealer gave me do not. The ones with the little engraved rectangles work wonderful...the bobbin sensor sets off just right, very little thread left on the bobbin, and thread cutter is quiet. The ones that my dealer gave me, well, the bobbin sensor will go off at any moment, sometimes after just a few stitches, sometimes after a few inches of stitches. Sometimes the thread cutter makes a horrible noise.
Turns out the bobbins that came with the Serenade are very slightly bigger. So slight, that really isn't apparent unless you use a caliper to measure (maybe 1/32" of an inch bigger). My dealer got the bobbins he gave me from Babylock, who said these were the right bobbins. They're not. He's working on trying to get me the correct bobbins, ones that are the same size and design as those that were included with the machine. ------ always trying something new :) |

Date: 8/7/11 10:48 PM Don't both the Serenade and Quest machines take the "L" bobbin which is my understanding to be the same as the Brother SA 155 bobbin?
Brother has a very similar looking plastic bobbin that is the SA 156 which I think is a class 15 and it is not the L bobbin. Two of my machines (Janome-Kenmore and Brother Innovis) take the class 15 or Brother SA 156. My stand alone embroidery machine tales the SA-155.
You might find a local dealer or fabric store that carries the bobbin that you need. If you cannot find the bobbins locally, many on line dealers like Allbrands sell them including both the L type and the class 15. I hope you get your bobbins soon.

Date: 8/8/11 2:55 AM I think dealers are often misinformed/undereducated, especially about the Quest Plus, Serenade, and Pfaff Smarter. I ordered an extra bobbin case for my QP, was told it would be $17, and got one that didn't match at all the one that came with my machine. By the time I got the right one, two months had passed (good for me I only wanted it as a spare!), and I was told that it was $45!! No apology for the delay or wrong price. I also hVe been given the wrong feet and wrong bobbins for the QP, I think b/c it's not a Brother/Baby Lock, but made in another factory altogether. My QP bobbins have concentric rings on them. I'm not convinced that the QP and Serenade have interchangeable parts, as my dealer's sales staff have said, b/c the Serenade has 9mm stitch width, autocut, and low bobbin sensor, and the QP has 8mm stitches and not the other features. I think on these machines, the owners have to become their own experts. ------ 🌸 Plenty of machines, mostly Berninas 🌸 |

Date: 8/8/11 4:45 PM Will this chart help?
I have the original Ellegante and it came with a bobbin center pin that goes into the bobbin case to make up for the shorter height of the L bobbins. |

Date: 8/15/11 11:47 AM Are you referring to height or diameter of the bobbin spool?
