Date: 8/16/11 8:51 AM Husband and I will be there from the 9th to the 13th. Where are you staying? I know there is a Joanns across the street from the Sunset Station, that's were we will be. There's also a local shop at the other end of Vegas called Heddy's. I haven't found Hancocks yet, but I think it's close to Green Valley. I'll have to double check. I'd like to hit that one this time out. |

Date: 8/16/11 9:37 PM My favorite fabric store in LV is Home Fabrics. 100s of rolls of home dec fabrics and trims, at great prices. There's one on Decatur and one in Henderson. The shipped a roll home for me, when I didn't have room in my suitcase. ------ My grandmother taught me to sew when I was 10, and I've been sewing ever since. |

Date: 1/7/12 10:53 AM I didn't make it to the Hancocks last trip out. But did go over to the Joann's in Henderson. It's right across the street from where we stay(Sunset Station). They had $.99 patterns and I picked up a few. Also went to the Hobby Lobby, which is the block behind the Joanns. Where is your friend staying? We like the Sunset, because it's off the Strip and in a residental area. It's just as lovely as any of the Strip casinos. It's not far from Ethel M's candy factory...we always make a point to stop by there Your friend will need a car, if staying in Henderson. Heddy's is the local fabric store. If I remember correctly it's kind of north west of the Strip. I wasn't too impressed with it...I'm all for a bargain and they were "high dollar" in my book. I would suggest a visit there, if your friend has the time. If she heads out to Boulder, there is a nice little quilt shop in the middle of Old Down Town. You can park the car and just walk all over, it's wonderful(especially when the weather cooperates )

Date: 1/7/12 5:34 PM I did a review of Heddy's this fall after I visited it - I thought it was a great store. Worth checking out if you're looking for garment fabric of all sorts. There's also a well-known quilt store that I didn't get the time to visit. ------ I've moved! Visit my new sewing blog at http://chiralcraft.wordpress.com

Date: 1/10/12 5:29 PM Hi,
I live in Las Vegas and have also reviewed Heddy's in the past. It is our only independent garment fabric store in LV. It is not inexpensive but does have high quality fabrics and sale fabrics on circular racks in the front of the store. It is not open on Sunday. If you need more info. please ask. Everyone in the store knows me because I am there frequently. Oh, it does not carry patterns and very little quilting fabric (thank goodness).
Fiddlesticks is a quilt fabric shop in Boulder City. Boulder City is a small town which is fun to visit to get away from the hustle/bustle of LV.
Kathy ------ Sewing and reading about sewing are daily pleasures.
I hope to use up lots of stash in 2012.

Date: 1/11/12 5:54 PM I also live in Vegas (hi, Kathy!) and am a big fan of Boulder City in general and Fiddlestix in particular. The staff there have always been friendly and helpful. If you park in the lot of the Boulder Dam Hotel, Fiddlestix is across the street, and there are quite a few fun and interesting shops to explore within easy walking distance. And the Hotel does a good lunch in the restaurant. Hope your friend enjoys her visit. ------ Grandma to arguably the cutest 8-year old ever! |
