Date: 8/22/11 9:01 PM I have never seen Burda patterns on sale for this price! JoAnn's must be definitely phasing them out.  I only buy a few Burda patterns each year, but I will miss looking at their catalogs in the store. |

They did have one copy of three different Burda catalogs, but they had 6 of Simplicity and 4 of Vogue. It looks as if they are now partnering with Vogue as well as Simplicity..advertising their fabrics in the catalogs. ------

Date: 8/23/11 7:13 AM I doubt Joann would spend money advertising Burda patterns if they were phasing them out. If anything they will be trying to phase them in with such a sale. |

Date: 8/23/11 11:07 AM I'm convinced my store doesn't restock Burda on a regular basis as one particular pattern I was looking for has been out for months. That or some beats me to it every week. And seeing how I'm in there usually twice a week (while DD is at dance nearby), I am not convinced someone is buying multiples of that pattern every week. Hopefully this sale will mean they will be freshly restocked. Or jumpstarting the phasing out of them. ------

Date: 8/23/11 12:15 PM I was so thrilled to learn about this! Hmm. Phasing out? Or maybe they found an opportunity for another traffic builder/loss leader like 99 cent simplicitys or such or realized Burdas aren't moving or aren't as well recognized as the other brands? Who cares! I think I better plan to shop as if they're phasing them out though, hadn't thought of this, so I'll grab up anything I'm on the fence about. I finally realized I'll never trace off the magazine patterns and though more $/pattern to buy the envelope version (so many are available as singles) I actually USED them so it was still a better investment.
As to phasing out, I'd wondered if that's what was happening with Butterick, a couple sales ago I went to get something from the drawer but another lady was standing in front of it so went to the next drawer and - there was no next drawer! Only ONE drawer of Buttericks! |

Date: 9/8/11 6:25 PM Just a reminder for this, and maybe a warning- the pattern section has been reduced in our Joann's, and I didn't see the Burda drawers. When I asked, the guy said that he thought they were discontinuing them. He wasn't sure they were, but I thought I'd throw that out there. They did have nearly everything I was looking for though. |

Date: 9/8/11 6:39 PM Since my nearby Joann's remodeled, I haven't seen the Burda patterns out. I asked one saleslady about it. She told me that they would be putting them out. Well, that was perhaps a couple of months ago, and they are still not out!
So, I don't know what this means. As another pp said, I do see lots of Simplicity and Vogue pattern books out. |
