Use paint or Sharpie to cover a stain Trying to salvage a skirt

It's the size of a pea and looks like a smudge of chalk, but it has withstood the efforts of two drycleaners. It's so noticeable that I can't wear the skirt as is. Could I try to cover it with black fabric paint or a Sharpie? What should I do? Thanks for any suggestions. Claudia

I've used a black Sharpie with success - in a not so obvious spot. The colour match was good but the fabric has a very slight sheen that the Sharpie doesn't. I have a large collection of colors of Sharpies that I use to cover places where bobbin thread shows when I machine embroider. I've also used Sharpies to color the netting on prebeaded appliques so the match the fabric underneath.

I start by using it very lightly and barely touching the fabric, then using more ink until I get the shade I want. Check it after every wash because, although the darn stuff will never come out if we get it on something light coloured, it does actually fade in the wash. When testing to see if the shade is right, move across the room. Most people won't come right up to you and stick their nose 2" from the stain like you will be doing. One thing you need to do is make sure that you don't just color the stain, feather it out so that it doesn't show as much. I ususully go about 1/2 inch larger than then stain. You may have to do it a few times to get the desired effect, because it fades when washing. ------ It's not your mamma's sewing.....It's your great grandmamma's

You could go at it with fabric dye and a fine paint brush and just layer the color in, let it dry, check it, layer in another coat, etc. And, I'm with tourist on people looking at the result. My saying, if they are looking for something that hard, they deserve to find something ------ I have no idea what Apple thought I was saying so be a Peach and credit anything bizarre to auto correct.
