Subject: Patterns with B/C/D cup sizing Date: 10/9/11 10:51 AM

There are now a lot more patterns with B/C/D cup sizing and I was wondering what experience others have had with these patterns and what size pattern did you buy?

For me, I still buy these from my high bust measurement. The alterations are alot less, but there still some.

Ditto on still buying by snug high bust measurement. Then I just use the D cup. I just made a multi-cup blouse and I didn't need any further FBA alterations.

If you buy by your full bust, you're still going to run into the problem of it being too big in the neck/shoulders, etc. Nothing else except the bust fit is different about these patterns.

Thats what I have been doing also. Still buy an 18 then use the D cup. What I find interesting about these patterns is how little difference there is between the different cup sizes. I didn't measure, but it looked like it was around 1/4", which would be about right as I usually have to do a 3/4" FBA.
Still have to move the bust point down 1" or more, but a lot better than having to do an FBA.

I don't want to steal the thread but it seems relevant. I'm curious - has anyone else found that McCall cup patterns are more generous than Simplicity cup patterns?

I wonder where on the envelopes you can see what the high bust measurement is. Usually their is only the measurements for bust, hips and waist.

My understanding is that you measure your high bust, and use that as your 'bust' measurement. However, I haven't sewn any of these patterns, so I may be wrong .
