Holiday McCalls

Personally not inspired... holiday collections usually don't catch me. But some comments to start conversation...

The collection includes jumpsuit hoodies and matching booties for the whole family! Really, does such a family even exist?

I also don't think that Palmer Pletsch model dress looks well in the actual version. The bust dart doesn't match up with the skirt seam, leading to a concern with drafting... and this is the version without sleeves:

They appear to be that, indeed.

When my children were little I always made them a one-piece sleeper to wear to bed. Kwik Sew had a great pattern for children. I can't imagine older children or adults wearing one. I know that everyone is lowering their heat at night, but.....

I saw a great pattern for "booties" that used a flip flop without the strap as a base. I am going to try it, even if I don't get that pattern.

One hot flash while wearing those footie PJ's and I'd be done for! Also, I find that the bumpy stuff used for the soles of the feet will probably wear out before the PJ's do. I've had that happen on some of my slippers. Even tried using that shelf liner called "duck" and it doesn't last.
The P/P dress, at first glance, made me think "pregnant". I don't think the rounded under bust line, is very attractive.

Well,if you live in a drafty old house in a cold climate you might understand. We turn out heat way, way down to a level that I never would have thought possible several years ago. Also I have some children who are cold hardy and some older ones that love to be warm and snuggly.
My family will love these.

What a strangely disparate collection of patterns, but I see a lot here I might pick up. DH would probably get a kick out of an Angry Birds plushie, the accessory and kids patterns are cute, and the scrubs pattern with the darted princess seam and the cup sizes is going to make some scrubs-wearers very happy.

As for me, the skirt 6471 is a definite buy, I'm intrigued by view D/E of 6461, and 6460 is making me wish I had a reason to make a dressy dress.

I wouldn't want the footed pjs. My kids always had me cut off the feet when they were little because they got hot. I am looking at this dress. The line drawing shows the dart line extending into the skirt portion of the dress. Is that a dart? Why would you do that? On the dress you do not see that and I don't think the dress is fitting that model very well. Think I will skip that pattern. I need something I have a chance at making it work...
