Subject: Never mind the Juki F600... going for a Featherweight! Date: 11/13/11 5:21 AM I've been looking for a travel machine, something I could piece on (I mainly quilt) and take along to my sewing groups. While I hate to sacrifice modern lighting, needle up/down, knee lift and a thread cutter (ack!) after a lot of consideration, I decided the one thing that truly mattered to me was my perfect quarter inch seam. Having discovered that was truly only attainable (for me) on a straight stitch machine, (Yes Soolip, you were right) I've decided to find a mint condition, fully restored 222k. I do want the free-arm!
A major plus will be the size and weight (I drive a little Miata convertible, VERY little trunk space) as it will easily fit into my car.
Somewhere, sometime, I thought someone had found LED replacement bulbs for the original lights... maybe some time of hydroponic bulb or something? Anyone know what I'm talking about? -- Edited on 11/13/11 5:21 AM -- ------ Bernina 830 ✂ Bernina 630 ✂ Bernina 1300MDC ✂ Babylock BLCS ✂ APQS Millennium ✂ Juki TL2010Q ✂ Singer 201-2 ✂ Singer 301 ✂ Singer 401A ✂ Singer 15-91 ✂ Singer Featherweight 222K

Date: 11/13/11 5:30 AM OOH boy!!! You will have to post when you get it!!
There was mention of those bulbs not very long ago too. They are not cheap though. I wonder if any dealership could order one for you?
It was mentioned under misc that Walmarts is having roller sm carts on sale Black Friday for $25.00 !!!! That is a big savings I bet your new FW would fit in one of those small ones. .....of course if you find one in an original case you would not need this... sorry I am excited for you!
Be sure to post when you get it! ......... I would also like a 222 but alas they are out of my budget...... Excited for you! ------

Good decision. In reality the major reason for buying a Juki is to satisfy a major SMAD attack.. usually brought on from reading too many Juki threads..
Now this surprised me. totally.. I have seen your marvelous quilts.. and thought you had a FW all along.. Am curious now what machine you stitched those quilts on.
Also wish you could repost the pic of that pirate quilt.. That was my favorite and I can't find that thread to look at it again..
You can always add an Ott light nearby if needed.. but hope you find those light bulbs.. |

Date: 11/13/11 11:02 AM If I get the one I'm hoping for, (222k) it has an original case in great condition, I'll probably set that aside and get a padded carrier, to preserve the original.
Pigling, which monkey quilt? This one?

Or this one?

The first one was pieced on my Bernina 630. The second one, and all quilts since December of last year, on my Juki TL2010Q. I LOVE piecing on it! It was why I considered the F600... but I think Soolip has the right of it, I'm in love with that machine because it's straight stitch only.
The first was made for a friend's first grandchild, the second one I donated to the Arkansas children's hospital. -- Edited on 11/13/11 11:05 AM -- ------ Bernina 830 ✂ Bernina 630 ✂ Bernina 1300MDC ✂ Babylock BLCS ✂ APQS Millennium ✂ Juki TL2010Q ✂ Singer 201-2 ✂ Singer 301 ✂ Singer 401A ✂ Singer 15-91 ✂ Singer Featherweight 222K

Date: 11/13/11 11:09 AM Great Idea CJ
I would like to ask, do you use a straight stitch plate on your bernina 630? Or have you in the past?
BTW your quilts are amazing.

What a cute one the first one is also.. but it was the second one I fell in love with.. Its just perfection all the way.. the design. the piecing. and the marvelous stitching of those waves. I loved it when I first saw it.. love it even more now. Simply one of the BEST executions of free motion I have ever seen ... |

Date: 11/13/11 11:45 AM CJ,
Those bulbs for the Featherweight were reviewed by GothDam and they turned out to be expensive and junk. Here's link to her review LED bulb review
I'm getting ready to give these lights a test. They're not cheap but with one power supply and additional light strips I can use them on my FW & my Bernina 230 or any other machine that needs additional light.
LED light strip @ the Cotton Club
I hope you find a gorgeous 222.
