Date: 11/14/11 8:30 PM I love that our ballroom competition in November always gives us Saturday off. We don't compete and don't have nearly as many friends we need to go to support. So I get time to shop and we also have a nice dinner out.
This time it was all a major mission to get a few notions and some chiffon to match the organza I bought there in February. Why didn't I buy it then? I really don't know. I either ran out of the allotted time that DH feels comfortable sitting in the local coffee shop waiting for me, or I might have run out of $$$. Either or both.....
I found Cool Max fabric for $3 per metre, pale blue stretch mesh that will be a perfect underdress for the next gown and yes, I found the chiffon! If I wasn't so tired, I would be in there working on it right now. But tonight is TV and feet up and rest.
Lynne Rowe, one of these times, we must arrange to meet up downtown! ------ http://bgballroom.wordpress.com to follow the progress on my next ballgown. |

Date: 11/18/11 12:37 PM I'm going to do this today! I last visited right after halloween and many of the shelves hadn't been restocked.
I bought some of that mesh too to use as a knit lining. ------ Cheap fabrics, like cheap shoes, are a false economy.

Date: 11/18/11 4:36 PM That is awesome. Several years ago when the big new JoAnn opened up in town, I told my DH that what I wanted to do for my birthday was go there and spend AS MUCH TIME AS I WANTED wandering the aisles, with nobody nagging me or giving me bored looks.
I was there for 3 1/2 hours. It was fabulous. I was in sewing/needlework/scrapbook NIRVANA. LOL ------ ~Gem in the prairie |

Date: 11/18/11 8:43 PM You are one lucky lady Tourist.
It has been almost a year since my last trip to Dressew. I do have a bit of time off between Christmas and New years and have to go to the mainland to see my neice for her birthday. I may just have to find a bit of time to stop by there. ------ Proud parent of a Dwight International School Honour Roll Student |

Date: 11/28/11 6:31 PM OOOOH, take me, take me! I love Fabricana and Dressew! The little fabric outlet on Hastings down by Victory Park is fabulous too.
But the only way I would have time when I visit is if I tell my family I'm coming 2 days later than my actual arrival date . |

Date: 11/28/11 7:21 PM Lynne - I know!! I always think of it too late or we are maybe possibly, if-we-have-time going, but we definitely have to make it happen sometime. I have stayed away from Fabricana, even though we are usually staying in Richmond. Unless they have a killer bargain wall, I would probably get serious sticker shock.
fabb - if we ever get it together, you are welcome. ------ http://bgballroom.wordpress.com to follow the progress on my next ballgown. |
