Date: 11/17/11 10:40 AM Hi,
I recently moved to Calgary and I love to sew.
Fabricland here is Fabricville in East coast.Still receive mails from Fabricville, the prizes here are much more expensive and I cannot find my coveted pattern sale, SImplicity 5/$5 which is currently going on in Fabricville. My question is does Fabricland here have such pattern sales???? Please let me know.

Date: 11/19/11 11:32 AM I'm in Calgary too and a Fabricland member but I just cannot remember if they have ever had a 5/$5 sale here. I buy directly off Vogue patterns as I find it is the cheapest option for me, even with shipping. Sorry I can't give you a more definite answer.

Date: 12/10/11 1:49 PM I can confirm that the western Fabriclands do not have the same pattern sales as those in eastern Canada.
I too typically order from BMV directly during a sale unless I want a Burda, especially since the patterns at my fabricland are no longer accessible to customers. ------ Cheap fabrics, like cheap shoes, are a false economy.

Date: 12/12/11 7:57 PM Actually the eastern fabricland pattern sales have dried up and I asked about it the other day at our local store (southeastern ontario) and the clerk said that the owner had discontinued the majority of the pattern sales, saying members get a really good discount anyway and that he lost money on them. She reported that they will occassionally offer Simplicity and New Look sales but that will be the only ones. Too bad because they used to have great pattern sales. Oh well. I was interested to read that a number of you order from club BMV and find it reasonably priced even with shipping. I think Fabricland members get a 20 or 25% discount on patterns - does BMV beat that?

Date: 12/18/11 8:09 AM I checked the pattern prices at our local fabricland the other day becuase I just wasn't sure how the patterns were regularly priced for members and really wanted to know how BMV compared. It seems they give 50% off the catalogue prices for Butterick and Vogue but have their own "special" pricing for Simplicity, McCalls, and New look that ranges from about 3.99 to 7.99. Burda pricing is exactly as it is shown in the catalogue but members get 25% off.
Are the western fabriclands similar in their pricing structure?

Date: 12/18/11 11:04 AM That sounds like the same pricing, but then I never really look at patterns at Fabricland unless it's during one of their (now rare) sales. I do watch for the $1.99 sales on Simplicity/New Look to stock up, but use club BMV for the rest.
The current BMV promo has all patterns on sale for $3.75. Even with the shipping costs factored in, it's a much better deal. |

Date: 4/29/13 6:26 PM Does anyone know when the Fabricland West Simplicity and New Look sales are? They don't seem to be in their monthly mailer. I think they just advertise in the newspaper or in store. I've been keeping an eye out but I haven't seen any sales in months. Did I miss the last one? They usually have one sale per season and I haven't seen one in the spring. |
