Date: 11/22/11 8:26 PM In the title of one of Elton John's songs, Funeral for My Friend, I've found resonance. My friend is dying of cancer and I don't hope for her being here after Thursday. She has gone downhill quickly; since Sept. 11 and most importantly over the last few weeks.
Last night I went to her house and met with her, her daughter, and son and daughter in law. I had a gift for this woman who touched my life so much; in ways I can't mention here. The gift was a hug quilt, in teapots--something she enjoyed in the afternoons with her daughter was tea, and was made by her friends, classmates and fellow quilt guild members. Need I say purple was her favorite color? click here -- Edited on 11/22/11 8:30 PM -- ------ "We don't impose our rhythm on Nature. The key is to respect and live within Her." Date: 11/22/11 9:13 PM Oh how sad! What a wonderful gift I hope may also give comfort to her family once she is gone. I worked with a young woman who had leukemia and she was going for her 3rd bone marrow transplant. I made a quilt for her backed in minke to comfort her as she went through chemo. Needless to say she did not make it. Everyone from work signed the quilt... Her mother sent a card saying they hung the quilt in her daughter's room as a reminder of how many more people whose lives she touched.
