Last year, CT had their Cyber Monday sale as all samplers (except batiks) on sale. This year they said their sale would be things that rhyme with "antlers" and while it's not a great rhyme, I figured it would be the same thing again...

This year it is only select samplers, most of the ones I wanted are not on sale, AND half the things on the sale page aren't even listed as sale prices.

Last year the site was so slow and difficult to order from, I made sure to get up early. I won't be buying because even the sale things aren't on sale, but even if I was, there are so few sale sets I want. I should have gone to Joann's this weekend, but I skipped it with the promise of Connecting Threads.

Majorly bummed right now!

ETA: Oh, it looks like they've got everything at the sale price now. When you advertise a sale starting at 8:00, doing that by 8:15 is a little late...

I so not understand their sampliers. If I clink on one of them, am I buying only 1/2 yard of fabric or am I buying several of those 1/2 yards in a kit?

Can something explain to a new quilter how this works?

The samplers means you get all the fabrics shown in the cuts you choose. Some are 1/2 yards, some fat 1/4s and some just squares.

Their Essentials thread sets are 40% off! Already inexpensive, now less than $7.50 for five 1200 yard spools of 50wt cotton. I haven't tried much yet with it, but lots of Quilting Board members rave about it, and it seems nice. At that price, can't hurt to try it.

How do you uset this type of thread? Is it for a sewing machine or a serger?

It is sewing machine thread. I use it both for quilting and piecing. It is a fantastic thread, less linty than Gutterman IMO. My machine loves it.

I use it for quilting and piecing, though some people think it is a little too thick for piecing.

(I bought some before it went on sale, and they were awesome enough to adjust the price for me! I did end up getting a few FQ sampler packs on Sunday- but the selection was not great this year...)

My computer connection was acting up this morning, so I missed the sale. It went until 8am pacific time. My computer was not working properly until 8:45. Something got a "hiccup" in it and email and inernet would go round and round and round, but nothing really happened. DH spent a while resetting things for me and now it works.

I will check thier site to see if they decided to extend it to later in the day. If not, I'll go buy some fabric instead. I need fabric a lot more than I need thread. Besides, they will have the tread on sale again sometime, and then I'll be ready to buy it. I decided when they do, to buy the nutrals set of colors. Those I can always use.

Piecing or quilting, though I prefer 40wt or thicker for quilting in most cases. The Essentials thread is 50wt, which I use for piecing, though I haven't yet gotten to use the CT thread I bought.

I bought some of the thread because the colors are so luscious. I haven't used it yet.

For piecing, I prefer Aurifil which is quite thin, but strong.
