Is anyone planning on buying things online today? I am thinking of buying some fat quarters, but not sure who from yet.

How about the Grab Bags from Nancy's Notions? For $9.99, and no telling what could be in them. Not sure I like someone else filling my order for me or not. What if it is nothing I want or need?

Connecting Threads has a sale as well, but it seems limited to the samplers of their choice.

I have to admit, I did most of my shopping already, but...

I still have a full cart at Fabric.com and another one at FabricMart. Those sales expire tonight, but I still haven't decided whether I've already spent too much...

I already got a dress form this weekend and I'm expecting a package from FabricMart any minute now :o) And that's just the sewing stuff...

Does paying off my dentist bill count for Cyber Monday? Somehow, I doubt it.

Probably a solar powered shed light, from Northern Tool.

Too many projects stacked up for me to go buying fabric online (unless you count fabric for slipcovering the couch, and I really should get a swatch first. So I may just ask for swatches.)

I wasn't hunting for sewing things, but on trying Macy's Cyber Monday offer, I discovered that ordering an item shown as "Available' on the website will let you get all the way through the rather lengthy ordering process, waiting until after you hit 'Submit" to let you know that, whoops, it isn't really available at all.

My Macy's card is going to get very cold at this rate.

Actually, I was pretty angry about this experience, because of course the implication is that you cannot rely on the website regarding the availability something you are interested in, so it's a waste of time and effort, and inconsiderate on the part of the merchant, as well.

So I sent an irritated email to customer service. To my surprise, there was a very fast response. Unfortunately, it was just the usual 'Macy's is continually trying to improve service..." pap, so I wrote the guy back telling him that although his response was gratifyingly quick, there was nothing in it that was useful, and I was still not minded to purchase anything else from Macy's.

To my further surprise, a different manager fired back an apology plus a hefty discount code for my next online purchase (with the usual designer stuff excluded, of course). My feathers are surprisingly smoothed.

The moral? Complain, ladies, when a merchant disses you.

So, with the coupon, what do you plan to buy? I am surprised you got a quick email from 2 managers and a hefty discount coupon code as well. It does help to complain, if you need to complain.

We await your post telling us the next transaction with the hefty discount went through and you are now a happy shopper. I wonder if they will somehow monitor your shopping to see if things go through for you or not. I bet you will hear from the 2nd manager again.

I have not decided yet, but probably something in the cashmere vein.

As to why they responded? I think everyone is watching the bottom line, hoping to goodness for a profit, and the squeaky wheel (me, or thee) gets the grease.

Regarding Macys, I didn't realize the website and the store had different prices, and the store doesn't like to honor the website prices, although you can return something bought online to a Macys store. I recently exchanged a pair of shoes I bought online, tried on a different size and they were still too wide. I ended up with a different pair, and I had printed out the online pair, for the stock # in case I didn't see them in the store. The online price was 25.00 less than the in store price. I asked if the store would match, and they gave me the song and dance about online Macys being different than retail Macys, but then they finally matched it.
