Date: 12/2/11 12:53 PM Can anyone recommend alteration procedure for increase of upper sleeve's ease... I purchased a pattern recommending double faced fleece, and purchased bulky fabric with faux suede exterior bonded to faux fleece interior. The sleeve pattern has zero ease whatsoever...even before consideration for bulky fabric. So I called the Mfg. Their solution was to simply increase the ease at seam allowance...and do exact same adjustment to bust area of the bodice. The bodice ease (6") was just fine. Also, remember the increase to bust would double, as two sleeves! I'm NOT a linebacker! So, am desperate for help. Could I made into a two piece sleeve, doubling area which could be increased in upper arm (4 raw edges vs. 2). Can anyone help me? Please... |

Date: 12/2/11 4:06 PM As you widen the sleeve you are also increasing sleeve cap length. The armscye has to be enlarged also, which can be achieved by whether lowering or widening the scye.
Another way to widen the sleeve and keep the sleeve cap length is to shorten the sleeve cap height, but it might make the sleeve to stand away from the body. It might be ok if the tailored look is not a priority. ------ www.thesewingspace.com |
