I have the cut work needles. They call it a kit but it only a set of 4 needles. You can only use them with designs that have been digitized for them. It comes with three designs. The included designs are pretty small. I think the small square hoop or maybe one a little bigger is needed.

I have not used the cut work needles very much but I really plan to use them at some time.

I really don't remember how much I paid, I think it was around $50.00.

It would be a nice Christmas gift. What a wonderful DH.

Will they only work with Pfaff machines?

I look on the internete. you can buy cutwork needles. I think the kit should work with any embroidery machine. There is other emboidery designs out there that does cut work to. like this one

I think I found your answer.

i know you said its for the pfaff machine but would it fit on other embroidery machines? and can you use out cut work designs or only yours?

If your embroidery machine uses standard sized needles, they should fit. If it will sew without thread, then they'll work. The cutwork designs have to be digitized to use the Cutwork Needles, otherwise, it won't cut them. In all cutwork designs, a cutting line is stitched for you to trim with scissors. With designs created for the Cutwork Needles, a "cutting" stitch line is laid out for the embroidery machine to sew using a .3mm stitch length. This tiny stitch length, combined with the cutting point on the needle shaft is what allows it to "cut" out the pieces.
Needle are available at the pfaff sewing centers.
hope this helps

Thank you for your reply. Sorry I haven't been able to get back on here. It's been busy with everything happening with kids concerts, Christmas shopping and everyday life in general. DH did purchase me the kit and I can't wait for Christmas. Just like when I was a kid waiting.

If it is similar to the Viking cutwork needle kit, it will come with a needle insertion tool, a CD with designs and a video demonstration and 4 needles. Enjoy!

What makes the cutwork needles special is that they have a very small angled blade on the bottom, there's 4 in a package each one represents a different angle (colored for easy reference) and the combination of all 4 allows a machine to cut a circle for example. The Pfaff/ Husqvarna 5D software have added the feature to turn a normal cutwork design into one that uses the special needles by adding an extra commend.

Working with these needles they have to be inserted all the way up into the machine, needle screw has to be tight, thread sensor has to be turned off, the designs can't be rotated or resized. Fabric has to be starched and use a sticky washaway stabilizer after cutting to stabilize the edge.

Bernina has their own version of a cutwork tool and there's also the Artistic suite software that includes titanium coated needles.

I have a Viking Designer SE with the 3D Pro software and I am interested in using this cut work needle. Do you know if we can create our own designs for it? Also do you know how it compares to the silhouette cameo that cuts out designs?
