Anyone willing to participate in a jeans sew along? I missed the last one! Maybe newbies or seasoned vets (smile!) are wanting a pair off custom fit jeans for the new year

Even with the Jeans Contest in January maybe a Sew A Long would still be a good idea. I haven't particiapted in one so I don't know what the procedure is but I would like to try both: the Jeans Contest and Sew A Long, too.

The sew-a-long is pretty much anything one wants it to be. Basically, a group of like-minded (or like-sewing!) individuals working on a similar project who share ideas and progress updates.

A sew-a-long prior to the contest is a great idea: get those fitting issues out of the way so the contest is all sewing fun.

I'll be starting some jeans in a week or so. I have a few other sewing projects first then jeans! I have the Jalie pattern and LOVE it.

I know there's a jeans contest starting soon, but as I've never made jeans, I don't think I'm ready for a contest. But a sew along would be great. I'm going to be in the fabric stash contest in Jan., but I would love to join a sew along in Feb. I just got some denim from Fabric.com that I could use. I also have 2 Jalie jeans patterns.

Well, if no one minds, I'd like to get going on a jeans sew a long...let's say...beginning New Years eve? Good way to start the year? (I don't want to step on anyone's toes if I'm not following protocol. Please let me know!). I'm not ready for a contest proper myself! Just need a little encouragement to sew consistently. I believe I have all the necessary fabric, notions, etc. to begin my project. I'll review my Jalie pattern to ready myself.

I would love to join. I am new to this site and I am a beginner. How does a sew along work? Do u have to record yourself sewing?

Well today's the day! I'll get the New Year off on a positive sewing note by beginning to adjust the fit of my Jalie jeans pattern. I'm committing at least one half hour per day, whether it's actually needle n thread or perhaps reading something about sewing to get myself back in the habit! I will be working on my fitting muslin this morning so that I can get ready for our New Years' celebration later on. HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone!

Hi Sistadivine81!

From what I understand about a sew-a-long is that someone makes the suggestion then all those that are interested in sewing the same thing just joins in. You post you progress, questions or tips/hints as you like. From what I've seen they are great vehicles for successful projects. Everyone is so helpful and willing to give feedback. I'm going to just jump in! I hope the others are on board! Either way I hope to end up with a great pair of custom jeans! :)
