Date: 12/26/11 12:19 PM I love to quilt.
Started a year ago, Christmas 2010. I just picked up a machine and took a dive. I love it!
I dont follow "rules"- I dont care for "patterns"- and, I like to recycle. ALL fabrics in these quilts are salvage/used clothes/designer leftovers.
Dont judge me too hard by traditional quilting rules - my goals are much my own, and to that end Im very happy with my creations.
Please post some quilt pics!

this next quilt is recycled t-shirts.. every fiestaware color ever made is in this quilt. i made it for a friend of mine who is obsessed with fiesta - the second pic is from his house in new orleans.

Date: 12/26/11 12:43 PM I love that 3rd quilt. Thanks for the comment.
It really hurt my wrists to make it - soo much push/pull/rotate! And, because Ive not done an entire applique on whole cloth style quilt b-4... I pretty scared its going to fall apart in the wash!

Date: 12/26/11 6:06 PM I love the table service! Such a warm, rich look. Although it's not me, it certainly is beautiful!
I have lots of quilt pics, don't want to post any because there are too many. I make hospice quilts, and some of them are nothing but scraps. Like my Mile-A-Minute quilts--such fun! ------ "Having to squeeze the last drop of utility out of the land has the same desperate finality as having to chop up the furniture to keep warm" -- Aldo Leopold

Date: 12/26/11 6:24 PM First of all, there are no quilt police. You get to make quilts exactly how you want to make them, and you never have to answer to anyone else.
Second, you are creating quilts the way in which they have traditionally been created. While it is absolutely true that women have always made quilts with fabric bought especially for the purpose, there have been quilts made of recycled clothing and other fabric for just as long. And why not? Instead of throwing something away, it gets a new life as something beautiful and useful - that is the best part of quilting.
And, speaking as someone who is obsessed with tabletop, I really, really like the quilt as tablecloth mirroring the colors of the fiestaware. ------ Barb |

Date: 12/26/11 8:56 PM Oh, as someone who is yearning to get all into quilting, you ispire me. And, since I'm also getting into Fiestaware - this last photo is exquisite with the lovely quilt!!! Very nicely done. I was just on a website trying to decide what colors. Now I know I definitely want to mix and match. ------ Bernina 730E, 350PE

Date: 12/26/11 9:11 PM Love the third quilt and love the table quilt with the Fiesta Ware. Lovely. Keep doing your quilts your way. It's the fun create way. If you can get ahold of it or find it on your Public TV Station, watch the series Why Quilts Matter. The Gee's Bend ladies - wonderful women who quilted with what they had, and their creations are American Modern Art. Great series, although I did fast forward through a lot of the "business-of-quilting" type stuff. Your quilts remind me of modern art as well. ------ "Be kind whenever possible.
