Date: 12/26/11 10:41 PM A new thread for projects based on Burdastyle Magazine 2012. The January issue is out, holidays almost over - time to start sewing again :-)
Everyone can join!
at any time!
The goal is to sew at least one garment from each issue (but if you can't make it, chat about what you managed to sew, or what you want to sew :-) It's about having fun sewing from Burda 2012!
Dividing it by year makes it more manageable, that's why Burda 2012.
Would be great to see some images and/ or links!

Date: 1/3/12 7:08 PM Sewing at least one garment is a great goal - I will edit the first post, but it should not be a must! - I just thought it would be fun to have a thread with images of finished garments and questions, answers and general information.
Thanks for joining! ------ My blog: http://frabjous-fashion.blogspot.com

Date: 1/4/12 8:40 PM I'm planning to sew one item from every Burda issue this year PLUS every issue I already own and haven't already sewn from - that's at least 48 projects - eek! I've posted in detail about it on my newish blog here and here.
I've also recently posted some tips about tracing BurdaStyle patterns on the blog as well that I hope might be useful.

Date: 1/5/12 12:06 PM I have tried that before but found the burda issues I i have not sewn from in general don't have anything I would like. I still love the mag I will start maybe in Feb with the jeans contest it might take up my JAn. Maybe.. |

Date: 1/5/12 12:37 PM I should try this -- I just got the call that the most recent issue is waiting for me at the book store.
I must admit that I've never sewn anything for myself from my Burda mags. Have done a couple of kids' things and have gotten lots of ideas for projects.
I also have 10 past issues and a few of the Burda Plus ones so I really should try to sew up one item from each one. Wish me luck!!

Date: 1/5/12 1:53 PM Oh , we all share very similar stories I guess. I started this thread hoping I would finally use the magazines, especially, because I got a subscription now.
Now, I want to participate in Jeans Sew Along too. But I still hoped to find something in each issue.
SO it got to be something easy this month. Maybe this:

but then the robe is lined... This will take a lot of time - hmm, not worth it, maybe?
this slip?

it is also lined, but I see no need for lining if I won't sew it with chiffon as suggested by the magazine.
Finally, this dress was a cute and easy option. I don't have an office job anymore, so this is a good casual outfit, if it is made in a less shiny fabric :-) of course

what are your choices from the January issue? -- Edited on 1/5/12 1:54 PM -- ------ My blog: http://frabjous-fashion.blogspot.com

Date: 1/15/12 8:27 AM I like this idea! After a few years of buying Burda every month at the newsagent, I received a subscription for Christmas this year. I didn't do much sewing for myself last year (I had a baby in November and spent most of my pregnancy sewing layette items), so I'd like to use my new subscription as motivation to make some pretty things for me and only me!
I just received my first issue (the Feb issue), so I'll be joining you guys with that one. I'm leaning toward making the jersey dress with all of the diagonal seams. I recently spotted a dress with similar lines in a gray and black striped jersey knit. I have an identical fabric in my stash, so I think I'll go for it.
