On a past vacay I paid waaay to much $ for this linen blouse, I just had to have it Its starting to show some wear, so I want to try to replace it. I I started here http://www.jacquardproducts.com/ they have instructions on line and a forum where you can ask detailed ?'s.
I found my products at http://www.danielsmith.com/ lucky for me they have a retail store in Seattle.
Fabric: I started with some bright white, sturdish medium weight linen, almost a bottom weight, since dying can be hard on the fabric. I pre-washed and dried, once w/soap and 2x w/ just H2O.
Color: I started with jet black and soft black, after experimenting on a few 10"x10" samples, I decided to use less dye than called for to get medium grayish and purplish blues. Then continued to cut the dye solution for even paler/softer colors.
Dying:After a few 10"x10" samples using the baking soda method. I figured out I didn't like this method and decided to use the soda ash pre soak.
So after doing it, its much simpler than you think, I'm certainlly going to be hand painting/dying more fabric in the future!
