Date: 1/8/12 9:11 AM Has anyone gotten any of the Egyptian cotton (shirt/pajama, etc) which is being offered at Fabric Mart, and for a tiny bit more, with more selection, at FarmhouseFabrics. It seems like a very low price to pay for Egyptian cotton, and I notice that it is selling at a wider width than normal for really good yard goods. Anyway, I just got some to make myself some pajamas and hope that I will not be disappointed with the quality. If anyone has gotten and already received some of this, can you let me know your opinion of this fabric. |

Date: 1/8/12 9:49 AM I got some from Fabric Mart -- it's the white with a light blue and red stripe. It is absolutely lovely. Even though the colors are very masculine, the red is so saturated and glossy (not shiny, really, but there's a sheen) that I think a man might not like to wear it. So it's going to be something for me.
I'm thinking about a shirt dress. |

Date: 1/8/12 10:22 AM It will probably make a great shirtdress. Thank you for replying, now I am really glad I spent for it. I had some pajamas made some really nice, high quality cotton and was looking for a good replacement for them. I think this fabric will be it. |

Date: 1/8/12 10:36 PM I got a piece in one of my mystery bundles and it is gorgeous. I wasn't sure what to do ith since I don't really wear woven tops. Pajamas are a great idea. I have enough for some pj pants. ------ http://kimsewsilly.blogspot.com/ |

Date: 1/12/12 11:31 AM I have often shopped at Farmhouse Fabrics and have reviewed it. Everything I have ever purchased has been top quality. I wouldn't hesitate to buy Egyptian cotton from the site.

Date: 1/12/12 1:27 PM Yep, got a couple of pieces! You have to log in toFM the offer to appear.
There's some overlap between what Farmhouse has and what FM has. More selection at Farmhouse, but they're not half off today. ------ --Robyn

Date: 1/13/12 5:25 AM I haven't bought any, but as I was thinking about making a shirt with contrasting white collar and cuffs, I wonder if this would be the right stuff to make the contrast with. Would give it a try but I ran out of $$. |

Date: 1/13/12 6:55 AM Thanks for mentioning farmhouse. That is a new site to me and they have the blue and chocolate stripe egyptian cotton that fabricmart previously sold.
I had a good time with the fabricmart egyptian cotton sale yesterday. I have wanted to try that fabric for a few months. I hope that I can try the kwik sew boxers pattern for hubby. I already have some nice elastic from fashion sewing supply in black and white. I did see some other elastic at another site (sewsassy) that was the yellow white stripe elastic sold on rtw(ready to wear).
I forgot to add that 6 yard mystery bundle to my fabricmart order yesterday, but they had some 'name your own price' fabric that I scored. Now that was fun. I may not be eligible for the mystery bundle because my total was under $75 without the discount for egyptian cotton.
Edited to add sewsassy and not eligible bundle comment. -- Edited on 1/13/12 7:01 AM -- |
