I need to get rid of some of my stash and was wondering if anyone has had any luck selling fabric? Etsy, craigslist, or I think there is a place to sell stuff here?

I've given fabric to goodwill in the past, but if possible it'd be nice to make some money--most of the fabrics would likely be natural fibers.

Sky,

I have never sold fabric, I, um, buy all the time. I have bought from Yahoo web sites like SewItsForSale and here on PR from people who are trying to destash. I constantly look for this as it can save money from original prices and I have had real good luck with the sellers being truthful and shipping quickly.

I have picked up some yummy stuff and very good prices. Sooooo, whatcha got that I can use? Go ahead and list it here on PR. If you have no luck, try other sites. Oh, and be prepared to have people dicker with you. I never have as I felt prices offered were fair for the fabric and have not been disappointed.

I have purchased fabric from PR members as well. I have an Etsy store where I sold from my shop but never a personal stash. By selling on PR classifieds you save on listing fees. Craigslist is full of people who might be interested but rarely the follow through. I suggest trying to list it here first.

Thanks. It might take me a few days to go through it and list it but I'm guessing it'll be mostly suitings and other dressy fabrics in wool and silk. I was a chemist who wore jeans and t-shirts to work and now I'm a stay at home mom who wears jeans and t-shirts so I'm not sure why I ever bought so many suiting fabrics..

Thanks minggiddylooloo--I have had similar experiences with Craigslist for household items. Glad to hear that the PR classifieds have worked out before.

Sky, I'll be eagerly looking for your posts here.

I echo the recommendation for the yahoo group for sewitsforsale. Things tend to move very fast there.

Here on PR is the best place! And you're an FoPR, so you can list. I've sold (and bought) fabric from here lots of times and everyone is really kind. I love natural fibers, so I might be interested... after I sold a bunch recently....

And I also use SewItsForSale, too.

I've sold some fabric on Craigslist. I filled large bags and sold it for $20 or $30 per bag. It sold quickly. I've sold some fabric here on PR. Probably an average of about 25% of it sells here.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement.
