Date: 1/10/12 1:43 AM Hi, I had my heart set on making Vogue 9771 which is a cowl top cut on the bias, and a skirt to go with it in the same fabric. I was looking at maybe Burda 8973 view A but slightly shorter, maybe about 2-3 inches shorter. I'm planning to wear the outfit to DSD's wedding.
My fabric is a lovely silk and has medium size flowers and swirly circles on it. Both of these patterns I have made before and they suit me.
The problem is that I think the fabric would look better in a dress rather than separates. I also wonder how it would look using the same fabric for top and skirt and only the top being on the bias? I havent't tried this before. Has anyone a pattern suggestion for a feminine dress with a cowl or even a frill similar to KS 3784 that's not designed for a jersey? I have trawled the pattern sites but no luck so far.
Thanks

Date: 1/10/12 2:30 AM I have just seen Kwik Sew 3825 intended for jersey. The pic of the 'real model' in the blue dress doesn't look as good as the line drawing so it makes me a bit suspicious. Wonder how this dress would go in a bias cut? Would be interested in thoughts on this one.

Date: 1/10/12 1:09 PM Tape the two patterns together and use the bias cut. I would try it in a cheap fabric first. |

Date: 1/10/12 4:34 PM I'm getting ready to work on Simplicity 2145. The view with the Cowl is cut on a bias. I'm still trying to work up the nerve to begin the needed FBA. I liked this pattern because it didn't call for a knit. |
