Date: 1/11/12 11:44 AM Has anyone else seen this: Rotary Cutting Machine/Embosser
Anyone have one? It looks like it might be really nice for bias strips. Otherwise, for non-quilters I'm not sure I see much a point. ------ Needle Needle Straight and Slim, Dust and Sweep the House for Him! --Grimm Fairy Tales |

Date: 1/11/12 1:14 PM I was in a hurry to cut lots and lots of strips last summer for making drawstings for 500 bags and bought this one for a good price at WalMart.
When I first saw your post I thought of this. More options, not as easy on the hands as is the Simplicity Cutter, and a bit pricey.
There seems to be many, many gadgets to take the place of pencil and scissors!

It has limited embossing possibilities though. .compared to the embossers out in the market place.
I could not get it added to the cart to check the price out.. but Its great for those whose hands are arthritic or just plain tired from cutting..
But the point of it is simple really.. MORE Crap..er... stuff..
I just love stuff.. |

Date: 1/11/12 4:57 PM I have the same one as PattiAnn and I don't use it at all. I have put up on the top shelf. It is just easier for me to put across my cutting table and use my regular rotary cutter. My whole work cutting tabel is covered with the self healing boards and I just don't cut enough strips to warrant pulling the machine down and hook it up. I would sell it if anybody wanted one. |

Date: 1/11/12 5:32 PM I'm glad to finally know what that thing is! It's been in the JoAnn circular for the last few months, whenever machines go on sale. Never could tell what it was supposed to be!
It seems like a lot of $$ for a single-use thing. And the name is sort of misleading. Yes, it uses a rotary blade, but since it only cuts strips of fabric, "Strip Cutting Machine" seems a more useful name.

Date: 1/12/12 3:39 PM The blade is not sharp and works using pressure. It does work pretty well once you get it adjusted correctly. Although I always have a hard time getting my rotary on there right and my cuts have a wobble on one side. If you cut a lot of strips I suppose you would like it. As I said I never bonded with it.
