Has anyone got the original pattern?
I wish they would do programs like this on TV. Rather than all the cookery and DIY shows.

Hmmm, says "Not available in your area". What--across a country and a pond is not in my area? Hmmm.

Being closer to The Pond than you are, Gl, I thought I'd try it too. But I got the same message.

It's not available in Canada either. Oh well... maybe you could tell us a bit about it?

It begins by announcer telling you that they will be covering making pattern
Vogue 1772 and the cost (in old money).

Then shows some of the results worn by models. Made up in different fabrics to show it can be worn for any occasion.

Then a lady takes you through how to add a collar, reviere(?) and facings. The lady mentions that in a previous program she showed how to do set in sleeves.
Gives tip when sowing two pieces of collar together that at the point instead of stopping and swiveling the material to sew diagonal across the corner as it will give a good point.
Shows a made up collar with interfacing all tacked in preparation of sewing. She marks the centreback of collar with tacking stitch.
Says to make up the bodice piece but don't sew up sides with you have attached the collar as its easier to sew that way.
Pin lower layer on to collar yoke across the turning then along the turning. Tack in place.
Then join front facing to the top layer of facing.
She tacks everything before machine sewing. And says to go slowly and take care.
Then take out tacking stitches. Trims turnings closely. Snip any curved edges.
Hold collar up and smooth down facing and collar to help it lay flat. Then as you smooth sew along bottom of collar over the facing piece. Press.

Shows more models wearing the dress made up in different ways (different fabrics & long/short sleeveless) again but explained in more detail.

Then explains how many different companies have similar patterns. The price and what's included. Cheaper patterns don't include seam allowances but announcer says they are being phased in.
(4 and 6 pence patterns - expensive apparently- looks more like modern pattern I'm used to.)
Lady then recommends the pattern companies sewing books.
