I am looking for a fabric that would be suitable for M6394 view C. It is for a client who will be wearing it for her wedding dress. She wants it in a winter white or creme, in some sort of a tonal textured fabric or a crinkled knit (with the nylon backing- not sure how to describe). I have ordered 5 swatches from gorgeousfabrics.com and also 5 swatches from moodfabrics.com today, but I haven't found exactly what I'm looking for. The pattern calls for these SUGGESTED FABRICS: Lt.Wt. Wool, Wool Blends, Wool Crepes, Gabardine, or Lt. Wt. Linens, but I think it would look great in a slightly stretchy mid weight fabric that has a texture to it to make it a little dressier. It will be made of only one fabric, not the two combined as the drawing shows.

Thanks for any help!

Has anyone seen something like this in your on-line fabric shopping? Her wedding is March 31, and today was our first meeting. Since it's not a traditional wedding dress, (it's for a 2nd wedding) I don't feel too pressed for time so I can order more swatches.

I don't know if this will work, but could you consider a sweater knit? Maybe something with a bit of Lurex in it? (I have no leads to offer, alas, but I'm throwing the idea out there in case it helps give you one more thing to search for!)

Thank you for the suggestion- I don't know what Lurex is, but I will search for it.

It sounds like you are describing a "cloque" fabric. Here is an example at FFC.

How about this one? It says suitable for a vest which makes me think it would work for a dress:

Yes, both of those descriptions will help me in my search. I just need to find an ivory or a winter white. She brought me a dress that she had purchased from Coldwater Creek (not for her wedding) with the style and fabric that she loved. This dress is similar to the one she brought to me. The fabric has only a small amount of 2 way stretch and is backed by nylon. (The one she brought me) She is open to other fabrics, but would like to have some sort of interest in the fabric since the pattern is rather plain. We will also embellish with maybe a small rhinestone belt and a small V cut at the sleeve with rhinestone buttons at the top of the V for interest.

Thank you all for helping me. If you have any other suggestions for fabric that would work for this dress, I would love to see.

And thank you for posting the links. I forgot about FFC and had never seen Weachter's before!

This , of course has no stretch, but she would like it. I looked at FFC's policy on swatches and it says that only fabrics with the pictured "swatch" next to it can be sent as a swatch. This one does not have that. That is very annoying- I won't order fabric without a swatch.

What about a silk/rayon brocade? Since the dress is so structured, the lack of stretch might not matter: Silk/rayon brocades at Thai Silks

Oh, yes- I have two collections of silk fabrics from Thai Silks from a few years back and have ordered from them several times. I have been so focused on finding the fabric she asked for that I have not been thinking outside the box. Thank you for reminding me! They have gorgeous fabrics.
