Date: 1/14/12 3:49 PM I just got a new iPhone. I haven't had any kind of smart phone before so this is pretty cool. Any sewing related apps I should check out? What's your favorite app for the iPhone?

Date: 1/15/12 11:41 AM I'm not aware of sewing apps, but they have a stitch counter app I use for knitting. ------ "To love another person is to see the face of God!" ~Les Miserables

Date: 1/15/12 3:10 PM I was interested in 'Sewing Kit' primarily for tracking patterns since I've been taking advantages of the sales to increase my pattern portfolio. After reading some of the reviews, it looks great up to a certain capacity. My immediate concerns are that I have at least 70% OOP patterns and am more concerned with tracking fabric by vendor, content and performance than by yardage. I just started my PR Pattern Catalog.
My favorite thing to do with our iphones is to shoot pictures of products, ideas and magazine clippings instead of jotting down notes for at home research. If I'm standing in Best Buy looking at 35 cameras all in the same price range with the loud music blaring and an alarm going off I have a hard time focusing on which camera to buy. Snapping some quick photos on the phone gives me all the information I need to come home and quietly comparison shop. If I still had a decent fabric store I could take the same approach but most of my fabric shopping is now online.
I was very resistant to moving to a smart phone; cost and less convenience in simply answering the phone and hanging it up were my issues. It has way too many conveniences to give up now. I hope you enjoy yours. Just beware of pocket calls ------ I have no idea what Apple thought I was saying so be a Peach and credit anything bizarre to auto correct. |

Date: 1/31/12 5:24 PM There is a discussion you may like to follow on Patterns and Notions thread - Apps for inventoring patterns

I advocate Microsoft OneNote which comes packaged with some office packages that has a free app (and also a premium app which costs money but I haven't tried the $ one).
