Date: 1/14/12 4:38 PM I am looking for TNT baby patterns, such as t-shirts and onesies. I like the Jalie onesies, but I also like the wrap over styles such as this:
Bonds
Anything else anyone has come across that is both cute and useful?
Also, which snaps are the best in your experience? ------ Taking in is happier than letting out.

Date: 1/14/12 4:55 PM I'm also interested in this, seeing as I have our first child on the way, due to arrive in June.
I did get a subscription to Ottobre for Christmas and plan to sew out of that quite a bit.

Date: 1/14/12 5:50 PM I made this Onion pattern for my neighbors a few years ago, they truly loved it, kept telling me over and over how much better it was then similar suits they had. the others had an unfortunate sausage effect when the inevitable diaper leaks occurred, but this one didn't. If I was to make it again I'd add a little length to the back arms and legs, fold the extra length to the outside back and incorporate it in the seam, and then you'd have nice mitts/booties to fold into place if they were wanted. ------ Viking Lily 545

Date: 1/14/12 6:48 PM I made my grand daughter the Kwik Sew bunting with the hole for the car seat buckle - 3212. I made it in fleece and lined the entire thing in flannel. My daughter-in-law says all the other moms are jealous. ------ ~

Date: 1/14/12 11:07 PM Well my last baby is almost seven, so it's been a few years, but I liked Ottobre and Kwik Sew patterns the best. I used a few Burda patterns too, but not so much for sleepers and onesies.
I liked the snap source snaps, which require their snap setter and a hammer. Done correctly, the snaps are very secure.

Date: 1/15/12 0:45 AM Snap Source Snaps are the greatest. I have some of their snaps and the tools. The tools can be a little tricky, but the snaps really grip. ------ Marilyn

Date: 1/15/12 12:43 PM I used vintage ones for my son when he was little, which has been years now. I didn't do a lot of the t's and onesies.
My DD just got a slew of vintage reprints, as well as a small collection of the ones I had. Usually, I toss her in a dress and call it a day, although my mother uses the sleep sacks B5583 for DD and they fit her well. ------ Elaina

Date: 1/15/12 4:54 PM I've never sewn baby clothes (yet!), but I noticed a tutorial for making your own snap tape recently. There've been some good reviews of the Kwik Sew books for babies and toddlers, so if I were going to start sewing for babies, I think I'd start there.

Date: 1/15/12 5:05 PM Rivergum, I recommend Snap Source for snaps. I order on-line directly from their website (in the USA) and the postage is very reasonable. For the crotch area use the open ring snaps and for other areas use the normal snaps. In the crotch the normal metal snaps "clink" together as the baby moves hence why the open ring are better. Also use the size 16 in the crotch. While the size 14 is good for shoulders, back, etc. they are too small and come undone in the crotch.
For onsies, t-shirts, etc. I'd recommend Ottobre and Kwik Sew. ------ Belinda. Melbourne, Australia
