Change your password at Zappos or disable your account. I received a notice that they had been hacked and the last 4 digits of CC info were taken.

Wow .. this stuff is becoming more and more common.. That's one reason I use to always use paypal. so all these different net sites would not all have my CC info on file to be hacked. Alas, a lot of places I love to shop don't use paypal. And more to my concern is the behavior of paypal now and then..

I really don't want to go to the trouble of getting/using prepaid cards either.

Guess its just the day and age we are living in. And although the banks all claim to have high security.. and no doubt they do.. we all know if hackers really were determined they could hack in to our bank accounts.

Hackers can also get to your prepaid cards. I am thinking it might be a good idea to change your CC number often. but what a hassle .. for you.. and your card issuer.

At least they only got the last four digits. we hope..

I got hacked from an ebay buyer (long story) but somehow some program signed me up for a bunch of samples that would be automatically drafted from my account My account was getting hit by 100 of these a day and I was getting small little products in the mail I had never ordered.

Oh gosh.. would love to know how that happened.. You know if I have to spend much time this year trying to keep all this from happening to me.. or changing accounts because of it and so on.. I MAY just close down all my net accounts.. paypal/ebay and all the rest and go back to shopping and paying the old fashioned way.

My Paypal account got hacked this year. They bought themselves a really nice Apple Iphone with next day delivery.

They wiped out my hard earned accumulated ebay balance and even borrowed from my bank account to round out the number. I found the transaction by chance when I was checking on a return address.

It has all been resolved but I had to change all of my passwords this year. Paypal also sent me a security key, a device that generates a random number that must be input at the time that you log on.

This weekend I received an email from ebay stating that there was another user ID associated to my account. I called them, and it turned out to be the same person who bought the iphone. They had a different name and address but were associated through my Paypal account. It was the same person who bought the iphone.

I'll be changing things this year and I'll be getting prepaid cards. I'll also be opening up an account just for ebay, just more precautions have to be taken these days.

I received a call from Zappos about 5 years ago, apparently someone had purchased a ton of shoes (also next day), but shipping to a different address than what was on my account. I have to hand it to them, they checked and they cancelled the order.
They seem to be on the ball.

My bank account got hacked several years ago, when some person got out the eqvivalent of 6000 USD through an Italian Bank. I had no trouble getting my money back from the bank, though, as they suspected an insider. Phew! I guess one can never safeguard completely from these things to happen.

This also includes 6pm.com. I got the letter from them. My problem..I don't really know where I have accounts..just Amazon, ebay and the fabric companies...I think. I've been trying to think where else I've bought stuff!

Thank you, marec. I haven't received anything from Zappos yet. I'll check into it. Makes me wonder, I don't use my credit credit card online. I'm an internet security skeptic and call in all of my orders. I wonder if that has really been helpful???
