Date: 1/16/12 11:42 AM Our 15+ year old Dobey/Lab/Poodle/Spaniel mix had to be put down last night. He was so sick and uncomfortable. Still ornery, though. Love/Tolerate relationship.
He was always with me, just didn't realize how much we hung out together. Used to think he was my dh's dog, but guess he was mine. He was extremely devoted in his old age.
He was bossy and I gave in because well...he had a big, demanding bark and wouldn't be quiet until I acquiesced. He was our guard dog...always standing in the corner of the yard barking at anything and everything up and down the street. That's where we're burying him this afternoon.
Will miss you, Butch aka Boo-boo aka Bookies aka Pain in the Butt. Sorry, buddy, wouldn't clone you if I could.
Thanks for letting me vent everyone.

Date: 1/16/12 11:56 AM I am sorry! Still missing my Dobie...
We always joked that our favorite "designer dog" should be a Doberpoodle. Sounds like you had one:)
Maybe Butch and Wattson are having some discussions together now. ------ Raye Ann

Date: 1/16/12 2:33 PM So sorry. I know how hard it is.
When Cassie died 2 years ago I was bereft. I had not realized how she had become my dog. She followed me everywhere in the house, even up and down the stairs when she was in pain.
It will be good to bury him in his favourite place. ------ Proud parent of a Dwight International School Honour Roll Student |

Date: 1/16/12 3:24 PM So sorry for you Having to make that decision is so difficult, but you made the best decision you could for him, as it sounds like he was suffering in the end and you spared him more of the same.

Date: 1/16/12 3:36 PM I'm so sorry to hear about poor Butch. It's interesting you called him Boo-boo and Bookies. Two of my dogs are named Boo Boo and Pookie. ------ The essence of life is statistical improbability on a colossal scale.

Date: 1/16/12 5:29 PM I so feel your pain, our 21 year old cat went to his well-deserved reward last Tuesday. Fortunately it was quick and seemingly painless. He (and his sister, who made it to 15 yrs.) were a package deal with my husband so we are both missing him.
We had him cremated because we rent our current house and didn't want to put him in a yard we might never see again. Some day we'll take him back to our house (which we still own) where his sister is and reunite them. ------ Sewing is my therapy! |
