Can anybody recommend a good source for parachute fabric, either online or in the SF Bay area. I do not need industrial quantities. Or, are there other fabrics that might drape the same way? I'd like to try using it to make a skirt.

Chloe did a Spring dress out of parachute fabric that was some kind of super lightweight synthetic, maybe nylon. Historically, parachutes were made of silk so I'd imagine that a fine, lightweight silk would give the same effect in a skirt, although perhaps not the same durability.

A web search produced several industrial manufacturers, and it seems to be made out of nylon. Good luck with your search.
