Date: 1/19/12 8:24 AM I posted the following message last night and was unable to get the photo to insert in the message, so I added a link to a photo from FLicker. Here is the message I posted:
Photo didn't work
After failing the first time, I went back and followed the directions on PR and it still didn't work. Then I opened Safari instead of Chrome and it still didn't work.
PR Message
I'd appreciate any help.

Date: 1/19/12 9:51 AM Hi Annette,
It seems a bit difficult to make this work with Flickr, but you can do it. If you go to flickr, to the photo you want to display, and select "Share" and "Grab the HTML/BBCode". This brings up a textfield. You have to select the entire content, though you only want a piece of it. It looks like this:
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/64155056@N00/6723588153/" title="P1020335 by Annette Catherine, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7159/6723588153_6abd63ae70.jpg" width="333" height="500" alt="P1020335"></a>
Paste the text into the post window. Do not use the Image button.
This text needs editing to work properly. I've bolded the bit you care about. Delete the rest, so it looks like this:
<img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7159/6723588153_6abd63ae70.jpg" />
Now, you need to do one more thing, which I find very strange. Replace the double quotes with single quotes, like so:
<img src='http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7159/6723588153_6abd63ae70.jpg' />
When you preview, you should now see the picture.

Date: 1/19/12 2:12 PM The technique I showed is a link. It's just a link that shows within the body of the post. It takes no additional server space, or it shouldn't. If the image goes away on Flickr, the image appears as broken.
By the way, I prefer Picassa to Flickr, for a variety of reasons. It's easier to achieve this in Picassa. ------ http://communingwithfabric.blogspot.com/ |

Date: 2/16/12 9:00 AM As a Chrome user, I'm having a similar problem inserting a link and/or image from my PR Photo Album. I've read and reread the instructions on the album page. In desperation, I've resorted to copy/paste the URL of the photo when opened from the album. Any idea what the problem might be? ------ Indecision may or may not be my problem. -Jimmy Buffet

I looked into this previously, and the way the "embed" field is formatted in the PR photo album is not compatible with the embedding code on the message board. Copy/pasting the URL of the photo is the best way to do it--so you're ahead of the game.------ http://theslapdashsewist.blogspot.com

The images people post here take up negligible space. These days SPACE shouldn't even be a consideration in a picture or two or three in a post on the boards - we are far from the time when we had a couple hundred megabytes to use for our PC space or our web spaces, and there is no excuse now for either the size of our photo albums here or the idea that we shouldn't post pictures! Date: 2/16/12 3:48 PM Your photo url looks like it's a link to a PR discussion page, not a photo. Here's what your url looks like:
http://sewing.patternreview.com/SewingDiscussions/topic/%3C/b%3E%20--%20%3CIMG%20SRC=
By contrast, here's what the url etc. looks like if I want to reproduce the PR logo below (the link info. actually begins and ends with < and /> -- but this is what's inside the brackets) :
IMG SRC='http://sewing.patternreview.com/images/siteimages/logo_r.gif'

The photos are hosted by someone else (e.g., flickr, picasa, etc.) and PR's software go to the photo host to ask it to serve up the photo to the message board. Even photos hosted in your PR album don't take up any additional server space to serve up to the message board.------ http://theslapdashsewist.blogspot.com
