I was watching a tutorial on Missouri Star Quilting for making an ironing "board". It seemed like a very neat idea to me & portable too. Basically a board about 24 inches I think she said, with old towel as the backing & then covered in a big pillowcase. Has anyone made one? Do you like it? Is it as light weight as it seemed on the video? Easy to take places?
Thank you for responses..

You can buy something similar with a cutting board on the back for about the cost of making one. I wouldn't use toweling though I would use fleece. There is a special fleece you can get, I got it for some pot holders I never made so the heat does not transfer. That might be useful in making your own board so no heat gets to the wood. I forget what it's called will try to find out.

heat resistent fleece

Yes I keep it on my side table. I have a computer table for sewing and and old wood typing table (remember those they are no longer sold) lol as my L shape I have a lamp on it and my cutting/pressing board and iron. Use to keep my serger there when I was sewing clothing.

June Tailor

I got this with a 50% off coupon at Joanns approx $15 worth the investment. Easier then going back and forth to the big table behind me

another nice thing to go with it is one of the mini irons. I have one always forget about it. But the more current ones are nicer and also usually come with stand mine doesn't have one. I would love to find a decent lightweight iron. Most of them now are so heavy.

Oh it is so nasty weather outside.... Do you think you can order the double sided board like yours online? I did order scissors from JF before Christmas it took a while but they came okay. Not sure would the June Taylor board travel okay? What do you think? ... I do not know if the store would hold it at sale price for me til I could make it there, I know that Hancock's will not do it... winter.... Brother!!!

Thank you!

you can order right from Joanns and get the sale price. A bit more on June Tailor. Let's try Amazon.

111" by 11"

12" by 18"

The second is a real deal. It mostly runs $40-50 not on sale.
