I have had zero desire to sew lately, and have instead been drooling at store windows and web sites lately. I have no idea why. It seems like such a dull chore to finish up all the little details. I guess it's time for a break ... my stash is growing because I still like buying fabric, but we do not have room to store very much more of it.

Hmmm. seems like I saw a plaid skirt at either LLBean or Cabelas that had your name written all over it. . Already sewn too.

What's wrong with you? Most likely nothing. Possibly burn out, or the lack of sun, or too many things going on in your life. Maybe none of the above. Maybe you just need a break for a while. Nothing wrong with that. I am not sewing right now. I am reading, thinking, and waiting for a quilting class. I am in no hurry right now to do anything.

Do not be so hard on yourself and find something else you enjoy to do. Go shopping for the skirt that Poorpigling thinks you want. Go fabric shopping, reorganize the house. Spend some time picking out new paint colors. Think Spring. Shop online for flowers for the yard.

There is nothing wrong with you that has not happened to most of us here. You are sure not alone.

I think part of it too is that I am moving away from the office-y styles I was wearing and dressing more casually. Not jeans and t-shirts, but somewhere in between. I am also tired for some reason of feminine stuff. My favorite accessory right now is a huge leather cuff watch. The only skirts I wear are knit minis with leggings and boots. My long skirts are all dusty. I got rid of a bunch of sewn items that weren't quite right and I wasn't interested enough in fixing them. I've always been more of a tomboy and I'm still working to find a style that is "me," that's more than just jeans.

there you go-that is what you are focusing on right now. Why sew something if you are not sure it is what you love and will wear? Just keep window shopping and build your style file. Pretty soon you will say to yourself: I think I'll sew up a little...skirt, top, dress...

Nothing wrong with you, except that you apparently have more than one interest in life, which is 1.) Normal and 2.) Probably healthy.

I haven't been sewing at all lately, and at the moment I don't miss it. Just this week I realized that I'm even spending most of my online time hanging out with other writers (instead of sewing/costuming sites)--probably because my big focus right now is finishing a new book. When I get back in the swing of sewing, that will switch up again.

Totally normal. Have fun exploring the other stuff you're into!

I think I know why your tired of sewing.
So your tired of sewing ordinary clothes. So here's what I'm doing.
I recently bought some super sooooooft leather jacket from the savor store. (thrift store). I want to make motorcyle riding gloves. I recently ask for info on lining. Cuddle duds was the anwser. that is what im lining the gloves with. So now I have all the items i need. Now I just have to get started on making some gloves that fit and i reallllllly like. I do plan on making a leather jacket and some other items. I'm just going to recycle some good leather from the thrift store. That is my misson now. So why not add some nice pieces to your motocyle wardrobe.

I never said that would sew all my clothes. Shop and enjoy. If anything, you will find some new ideas to develop at home.

If I had to sew everything I would have quit in protest!

I think everyone goes through phases. I used to wish I were single-minded and stuck to one thing, but I have decided I am glad I am not. Right now I am cross-stitching again, but that is because my sewing corner is so cold and it is below zero here. At least I am doing something with my hands.

I wouldn't worry about it. Last year when I was busy selling some of my old, no longer jewelry on ebay, I didn't sew a stitch for five months. Now I sew almost every day.
